What cars compare to the GTP?

My '98 GTP is just about dead and I need a new car. I can't find anybody that will tell me what current cars on the market have a similar combination of being a big roomy family-type car, yet drive like a race car. I jjust test drove an Impala and a LaCrosse, and both looked more or less like my GP on the inside, but neither could compare on the road. The engines were decent, but there's way too much play in the wheel. I don't want my grandfather's car, I want a car that I can still beat the cabs in Manhattan with, but with my kids in the back and the huge trunk packed with all our gear. Can anybody tell me what car competes with the Grand Prix these days? Even the dealer couldn't come up with a good answer for me, I just find it hard to believe someone doesn't make a similar car.

thanks!

Well thanks for that bit of wisdom, but that doesn't help me buy a car since they stopped making GPs. What if I phrase it this way: What do former GTP owners buy if they want to buy a new car?

Gtp isn't a race car by any means. But to answer your question the 3.5 altimas are in my opinion better esp in handling. The newer camrys arents too shabby. Lexus gs400...there's a bunch of sporty and semi sporty large sedans out there. Google is your friend

My friend has an 07 maxima with a 3.5 Nice car and we were pretty much even.. and they still make them lol

Are you looking new or used?
The 2012 Impala with the 3.6L has 291 HP and gets 30 M.P.G.
Possibly a used G8, but a local dealer here had a V6 model on the used lot for $23k:th_lipssealed2:

I always keep a lookout for a spare GTP. Mine is in great shape and hardly broke in (148k miles) but I know eventually I'll need something else.

If your crazy enough you could just keep rebuilding and restomodding your grand prix for the next 50 years lol

Neither of those cars look even close to the interior of a GP, ESPECIALLY A friggen LaCrosse. But I'm glad you are testing GM's :p!
