Got tired of the front license plate holder

I don't know if they always put them on but I bought the car in Ohio and of course don't need a front plate over here in NC. I hated how that big chunk of black plastic ruined the look of the front end. I suppose a body shop is an option but too expensive. There is also a site online that sells color matched bumper plugs but I think that would still run you around $60 for enough of them. So I said screw it and did it the cheap DIY way.

Can of spray paint from Auto Zone.
Two packs of plastic hole plugs from Lowes. Item #139447 (size 3/8ths)

Total cost around $10. Didn't take any pictures during the process but it was really easy. Drilled out the pop rivets or whatever the dealer used then painted the caps and they snapped right in. Perfect fit. Took no more than 30 minutes.

got a new bumper after an accident and had them not put the plate holder on. best decision ever.

That looks good man, nice job with the paintmatching. From like 15' to 20' feet away you probably wouldn't even notice them. :th_thumbsup-wink:

wow, that looks great...i may consider doing this. i hate those damn holes, but i refuse to put a plate holder on!!!

i did the same thing to my trunk lid on my scoob. if youre not gentle with them they will start to chip and expose the black underneath. either that or i didnt prep mine very well.

Truthfully I didn't prep mine at all. So I fully expect to repaint them down the road. But they are white plastic so that will at least make it less noticeable. Plus a can of paint goes pretty far when you're only touching up small plugs. I should be able to touch em up several times a year if needed. :)

i tried doing this..the bolts wont come off! they turn left all the way but the thing wont come off for some reason. how did u do this??

gonna get busted in a heartbeat running no fronts in Ont. i know someone who had it on his dash, still got popped.

ya the laws in canada for front plates require it to be "mounted on the front bumper"

i think it's useless to have plates on the front anyways

I was gonna remount it to the side kinda like drunkie did haha. looks 10x better. Anyways this thing is impossible to get off. on my car anyway.

When I had my accident that plate holder helped deflect some of the impact saving my rad support
