• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I recently just sold my 1997 Dodge Intrepid for one of my dream cars...a black 1994 Grand Prix GTP. The Intrepid was an okay car..but it was far from awesome.

I am in love with my new car! The moment I knew I loved Grand Prixs was when my boyfriend had one as a rental car, while his car was in the shop. The rental car was pretty much just like the car I have now. Since then he has also owned a 1997 Grand Prix GT (bought mainly by my force :th_angel:), until the rear wheel well of the car cracked. So instead of spending the money to get that repaired, he ended up buying a 2007 Grand Prix GT.

My car does need a little work here and there, mostly cosmetic issues. This is the whole reason I joined this forum, to look around for possible ideas and learn more about my car..and of course to look and hear about other people's Grand Prixs!

Welcome, and congrats on the purchase! How many miles on the 3.4L? And do you know if the timing belt has ever been changed?

I am not exactly sure. I want to say yes. Howcome?

There are 163k miles on the body, but the previous owner put in a new tranny a few years ago. They work at deisel repair shop, and her son is an auto mechanic, so it was a cheap repair for them. I paid $1,200 for the car, but even that is a fairly cheap price around here for these cars!

good maintenance. a timing belt is a really bad thing to have fail, and it gets more probable the higher the miles.

^ What he said. While it's never good to have a timing chain or belt break, it's even more critical on the DOHC motors as it can do a lot more damage when the belt goes. Best not to wait till it breaks to change it. I believe the regular maintenance schedule for belt replacement is every 60k miles. It's a time consuming pain in the but procedure, but the consequences of NOT doing it can be far worse. ;)

Thanks for the heads up and info on that!
