Cold Air Intake

Soon im going to Mod my 1997 Grand Prix GTP, i figured my first step would be a Cold Air Intake, whats the best kind I should buy or is there something else I should do first?

Buy a big arse cone and slap it on the TB. Is that ebay deal still going on for the AEM ones for $20? And what dude ^^^ said

I'm happy with my flowmaster super 44's. ya they drone a bit but its not like i can't hear my stereo or anything.

everyone that rides in my car for the first time likes the sound.

Then i probably will go with the 44's. I have all new pioneer and kenwood speakers all around hooked up to a 1200 watt amp so ill have no problem hearing my stereo with those 44's. Any other first mods i should do? Exhaust, the Air intake, then maybe 3.4" pulley?

READ THAT THREAD I POSTED GUY...

So I was also thinking 44 Series Flowmasters with stainless steel tips

Intake...tooo mufflers? I'm talking headers guy...the factory catback is good for 300+ FWHP...where you are no where NEAR.

So what's your opinion on what I should get?

Stock?

I just want good mufflers that aren't to expensive to start with and give a nice sound. Any ideas?

Borla, Corsa, SLP, Magnaflow...

My car is completely stock engine wise, I need new exhaust first. So I should go with a magnaflow mufflers right away or save up more money and get a complete system?

That thread I linked you to has tons of information that you need. The factory catback is fine...upgrading the piping is worthless. You want more sound...get headers and different MUFFLERS...because everything else would just be throwing your money into the wind.

Why do you need new exhaust? Is it falling off?

What he is saying is the step by step best process is in the link he provided.

Start with intake, home-made is most cost efficient. ($50.00 +/-)

E-bay headers would be 2nd best to buy ($200-$250)

3.4" Pulley & Tune, have to do them together or you risk blowing crap up

after that come back and talk to us.

Just an attempt to further clarify. Mufflers will not increase performance. There are no restrications behind the cat that should concern you. If you wanna mod do headers first than intak and then tune and maybe pulley.

I literally just did a little write up in the N/A section about N/A Mods ---> What can an N/A mod do for you? , check it out, read the one blue put up there, if you can't find a place to start after that then I don't know what to tell you. Tons of good resources, people, and experience on this site.

And like everyone said, don't waste your money on a cat-back. Wait until you put down some real power, which will be some time from now, if ever, unless you're loaded.

Good luck!!
