My odometer and what tells me what gear Im in doesnt light up anymore? It started over a week. When I would press the trip meter a million times it would come back on now is just dead. Everything else lights up fine. Any ideas? No its not a fuse lol

Sylvania has a bulb finder, this is what came up for a 98 GP Instrument Panel:

Instrument-general
194
194ST SilverStar: The brighter, whiter signal light. Up to 30% brighter light, up to 20% whiter light and up to 10% farther and wider.
194LL SYLVANIA Long Life miniature bulbs perform twice as long as any standard miniature bulb. Designed for durability, lower maintenance and greater safety.
37
37LL SYLVANIA Long Life miniature bulbs perform twice as long as any standard miniature bulb. Designed for durability, lower maintenance and greater safety.
PC195
PC74

Based on that, it SHOULD be a single bulb to pop out and replace.

Ok Ok you win. Lol now Just to take this thing out. Thanks Ill give this a shot. I just read a writup from Billyboost and it could be resistor too. It was cutting in and out didnt just go out.

Wait....are you talking about the odometer on your Regal? Or on a grand prix?

This is the back of the cluster of a grand prix. The circle is where the odometer bulbs are located. (unfortunately theyre not just twist outs like the rest of them)

heres a vid how to fix the cluster for a regal How-to fix a 97.5-2004 buick regal gauge cluster - YouTube

mine was out when i got mine, i sent it to a ebay cluster repair guy, and mine was already repaired by someone who couldn't solder and my board was dead. so the guy was able to d/l my info, aka mileage, and put it into another cluster, but it was for a newer year and 1/2 my gauges did not work, so he had to find one that was from a 98 , same as my car, (a 98) that he rebuilt and sent, cost 100 bucks but like i said the board was all f'ed up.

if you can solder a board i say give it a shot.

Yea Ill end up having the R&D guys at work do the sodering if I ever get this thing out.

to remove the cluster is easy, the trim piece across the dash needs to come off, take the sides off first, fuse cover, same for driver side, then you will see the clips for the trim, pop it out on the pass side first, and just keep popping the clips, (oh it helps to pull the center dash out a bit, 2 clips top corners, where it goes around the climate control) when you get to the part in front of you where the cluster is tilt the wheel down, and pull the bottom out, and slide it out.

the air vents stay in the trim piece too, so dont worry when you see them coming out with it. this is a good time to pop them out and clean them too.

the cluster its self is 4 small screws 4 corners, pull the bottom out and flip it up, the plug is on the top middle of the cluster, you will have plenty of extra harness to play with the plug to get it off. it is a tight fit, even after you un clip it.

Wow thanx for the descriptive writeup. I hate not knowing my mileage

np i've had mine off 4 or 5 times already.

my title said 160,000 at last owner, when the guy called me and told me it was 212,000 i almost fell over. so my lights were out for years and years till i had it fixed. my climate control chips have been re soldered too, had no lights there either.

Wow that really makes me hope my miles are correct then. My carfax tho lines up prefect with the miles I had and it didnt stop workin till about 4 months after I bought it. Man you just made my stomach drop.

your mileage is ok, yours went out while you had it.

mine was out for a few owners i think, the last owner titled at 160,000 and only a had the car for a year, and i got it at 212,000, so that don't add up. im the 8 th owner too.

Wow your the 8th owner thats crazy!!! Im the second owner. Like I said my carfax all adds up perfectly tho. I got it from some dealer in the city that was loaded with BMWs and Benzs and there was this random Regal lol. They didnt even know it was supercharged. The s/c wasnt even hooked up actually I made them hook it up before I would buy it. Only downfall is its got some doordings small but there from being a 13 yearold city car

It's easy.

Lol well when I figure out how how to get this dash off I hope it will be as easy as you say. I trie to pop the 2 side panels off to be able to pull that full front trim piece off that has the vents on it BUT the side panels seem to not come off and I take it those need to come off to get that front black trim off
