ok heres my list of products

- Buy Meguiars Ultimate Polish G19216 at Advance Auto Parts_____ ..what do i appy this with a pad and buffer or a rag type deal?
- Buy Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax (15.2 oz.) G17516 at Advance Auto Parts_____ only if i can...can i use this after the polish and just wipe it off and then be done..or do i need more.....
and this is the only clay bar i found Buy Mothers California Gold Clay Bar System 07240 at Advance Auto Parts____ good or bad?

1. Buy the cheapest claybar you can - they're all the same.
2. Buy the cheapest detail spray you can - they're all the same.
3. Claybar kits do not come with enough detail spray to claybar a Grand Prix, so you need extra. You'll wind up buying it by the gallon eventually if you like keeping a clean car.
4. You need a real wax for your car to seal it for many months. A spray wax will work at a mediocre level for about a week, depending on how much you drive and if it rains. When it's done working, it'll combine with dust and turn into a soapscum-like film that's a pain to clean off.
5. Get an random orbital polisher/sander setup. You'll want to hang yourself doing it all by hand. Heck it takes DAYS to do a full detail with a machine, probably takes a week to do it by hand.*


*Waxing by hand actually isn't terrible, it's the polishing that sucks the life out of you.

about the spray detail..which one should i get beause theres a bunch of different kinds...i know i want to go with meguiars but they have like 4 different kinds of spray detail

Lol, please if ur not experienced with ur high speed polisher DON'T use it! I've done detailing before and I've seen many ppl who *thought* they could just figure it out as they go and end up really messing up the car, burning the paint/trim, or actually ripping things off like antennas, headlights, or even gas doors!! Lol. Id hate for you to make a mistake. Not saying ur uncapable, just trying to help.

does anyone use mequiars Nxt 2 wax? goes on with a cloth and wipes off really easily. and OP wizards is a good detailer that adds gloss and could easily replace a wax job

Meguiar's Clay Bar Kit comes with a full bottle of QD, more than enough to clay bar a Grand Prix. And as for a wax, Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax worked wonders for me, even on a silver car. You can wax your whole car and not worry about wiping off until the end if that's what you prefer. And you don't have to worry about getting it on plastic trim, glass, etc. Super user-friendly.

aright went and bought some stuff today...
bug and tar remover
a QD
polish
quick wax
and some tire shine
was gonna get a clay bar but i had to spend money elsewhere on parts to get the car inspected, but i think what i got is good enough for me to get started with,

well this isnt my grandprix but i didnt want to start another thread about cleaning,
i just spent the last 6 hours on this thing in 99* weather, but i think it looks good and alot better now
this is all the things i used, plus rags, sponges, steel wool, and water,,,of corse

Actually, tire FOAM is the only tire solvent that has a degreaser already built into it...so if you put it on a cool engine/engine compartment...then you actually don't need to use degreaser. Spray...I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes...then scrub/wipe down.

Done.
