Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner. Correct, All CV's 92+ came with the 2V 4.6L V8 which is a SOHC motor, and a mod motor at that. They have no torque down low so its no surprise you beat him off the line. Now, if you catch one at a roll then it may be different. Heck, my dads 5.0L Vic can get me off the line but I run him down as soon as I get around ~4K and shift into 2nd. Also, most CV's have a 3.08 open rear while some of the taxi's may have either the 3.27 or 3.55 depending on year which makes them even slower w/ the 3.08's. The 4R70W w/jmod in my 03 Sport will almost pull the tires loose on the shift w/ trac-control off, lol... But then again I have cop chip, cop tires, cop suspension, blah blah (j/k)

I love it when I see a Vic engine for sale out of a Police vehicle and they all start saying it is an interceptor motor. The Police Interceptor concept went out years ago, the body style is the PI not the engine. It's just a standard 4.6 like the others of that year nothing special. Panthers are now dead anyway just like Pontiac.

Yea, but a PI engine has stories behind it, like: Sitting and idling for hours on end hiding in a speed trap, running for days on end on undercover stings, getting flogged
at WOT on the highway by first year rookies, seen in live televised stolen car chases in LA, and of coures we cant forget the hours cooling down at DUnkin Dohnuts!

the funny thing is, i do the same thing. we have a light that goes 2 lane to 1 lane and it just PISSES me off for the other lane to race me up there. i can almost GUARANTEE that i drive faster than you. i deserve multiple speeding tickets, so why dont you just let me go? and i do

I still wonder where they get these odd platform names :th_shakinghead1: Yes, Ford let them down by not updating them over the years. I wanted a full frame car that is safe for my family, has a V8, is rear wheel drive, can seat 6, 5 comfortably and hold all of the luggage for a full weeks vacation. I don't buy Panther platform cars to go fast. If I wanted to do that I would pick a different platform and built it to do so. I buy them because it is a proven platform and is reliable.

That being said there are a few Vic's out there that would walk a Mustang, F-body etc. They are few and far between, but do exist. Some even w/ a 5-speed.

The Vic is not much more than what the GP is. A sedan that has potential as long as you are willing to pay for it. In the end we are all modding a car that was designed to be a grocery getter. The bigger your wallet the better it can be.
