So i am having a little bit of a problem with the Prix. I have a 97 GTP... Pretty much stock. I am having a "stumbling" problem at low speeds. Almost like a mis-fire but am not getting an SES code for misfire. So last weekend I changed the plugs to the XP 606's. And I used Seafoam. (Seafoamed first) Hoping that would fix the problem. But no. My question is could my problem be caused by an EGR going bad? I am getting an EGR SES code from time to time. Something about a "PINTELL POSITION" or something. I also noticed while doing the seafoam that the EGR gasket is pretty much gone. Lots of smoke from around the EGR. My next attempt was going to be plug wires, but if it could be an egr I will just do an EGR delete.

Simple solution: Remove the EGR and delete the codes and see what happens.

If unmetered air is leaking into the LIM from the EGR port, that's a vacuum leak and can cause problems.

If its smoking around the EGR, then its leaking there. Just remove it. If your not mechanically inclined and don't have a dremel to cut the factory brackets off the EGR tube, ZZP sells EGR block off plates. If you do have a dremel, cut the factory brackets off...RTV a penny in the back of each one...and bolt them back on.

Done.

I am mechanically inclined.. Really never f*cked with emissions stuff before. I did the the how to on the EGR delete. But it didn't make any sense to me. I am willing to give it a go though.

Well I get the whole removing the EGR thing. Then it is pretty much all a haze.... LOL.. Just kidding. I think I get the jist of it. I pull the EGR and block off both tubes right?

Right...there are the 2 brackets that bolt to the back of the manifold and the LIM...you need those...you set a penny in the back of each one...RTV the crap out of the penny so it creates a seal, let it dry for a little bit...then bolt it back up to the manifold/LIM without the EGR/tubes. It'll throw a code, but it'll run better...plus you don't have all that hot exhaust gas going back into the motor...stupid.
