AC clutch rattling and vibrating when engaged!

The ac clutch on my 99 started rattling yesterday. I know its the clutch, my question is: can the clutch be replaced or am I going to have to replace the compressor, if so where can a replacement clutch be bought & what special tool are required if any? Does anyone have any video links on the procedure?

Thanks to all that respond, Mark

Generally a bad clutch will only rattle until engauged I am thinking you need the whole beating clutch assembly or possibly a compressor you will newer a GM clutch and bearing removal tool

Probably the bearing in the clutch pulley is bad. Generally they are simple to change out and come with new pulley, bearing, clutch, and often a special puller is needed, somtimes a puller is not needed, depends on design and compressor type.
When the clutch pulley bearings are bad, it will make noise with a/c on or off because the pulley is always spining when the engine is running.
