Dual zone climate control

I've got a 2000 GTP with dual zone, when you turn on the A/C, the passenger side is ice cold and the drivers side is warm, not hot like the heat is on, but nowhere near as cold as the passenger's side. Anybody had this before? Looking for a common cause and repair. I would think it's either got to be the control unit itself or a air temperature blend door sticky. Any input woulfd be a great help.

Hey, I had the same problem, mine was the drivers blend door motor. If you stick your head unerneath the steering wheel by the pedels you can see the actuator. Theres a little metal inticator that should move when you change the the temperature, if it doesnt move its the motor. Its a $235 part unless you know someone haha(mine was $105;) If you mechanically inclined you should be able to change it in about 30-45 mins, its not hard just hard to get to. Theres two screws holding it in place then a harness plugs into the top. Good Luck!

I had the exact same thing, and could have sworn that it was a blend door issue. It turned out to be low refrigerant, and I would bet that you have the same issue. I had put the proper amount of refrigerant into the system but ended up adding almost another entire can to get all of the vents blowing <40ºF.

If you are having to add freon there is something wrong with your ac system and you have a leak some where.

Checked the system pressures on my guages and added half pound of freon to system. Passenger side vents at 40 degrees and driver's at 75 degrees. Pulled off actuator and worked door by hand, actuator OK and door moves freely full range. Determine foam seal on temp door deteriorated allowing hot air from heater core into driver's side vents. Proper repair would be to remove heater box, disassemble and reseal temperature door. Customer opted for cheaper fix pinch off heater hose to block flow to heater core until the end of summer.:th_lightbulb:
