Light problems

On a 1997 grand prix 3800 se, what is the fuse that controls the auto lights because mine will not turn off when the car is running even when it is very bright and sunny out.

This is a simple one.
Your headlights are on during the day in a low-powered mode. That serves as your Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). It's how it is supposed to be, they're meant to mark your car in traffic, so people can see you more clearly.

Im a little confused because you say low power mode but it is the same brightness all the time even if i flip the switch into the full on position they literally will not turn off or dim.

It does that for me too, thats just how they are, I believe.

Pull the DRL fuse and call it done (if this trick works on the 97's- dunno). Then you not only save some wear on your headlight capsules by not having the extra heat from the bulbs on all the time, you get full MANUAL control of what lights are on and when. Nothing worse than sitting in a Sonic or the like and having the headlights blazing away just because you want to run the A/C while you eat.

Ouch. Vandalism is the lowest form of cowardice ever. But I believe in countering vandalism with vandalism. If that ***** keys my car, I'll slash her tires and bash in her windows.

Edit: And put a nanner in her tailpipe.

ok i will try it tomorrow is the fuse in the engine bay fuse box or is it the fuse box inside the car...

Should be in the inside of the car. If you have the owners manual that should tell you which one it is. Want to say its a 10A fuse.

Yep thanks it worked haha and did it right in time because i was racing my buddys eclipse and then the cops were trying to pull us over because we passed the cop doing at least 95 so i pulled in a sub-division and was able to turn off my lights.....haha so thanks alot helped me alot!!!!!!

You can be arrested and persecuted for doing that.

i know but if you do 30+ over the speed limit here in Illinois it is considered attempted manslaughter and you will be put in jail for 6 months and lose your license for good... So i kinda figured it was worth a try....

Disabling DRL?

I cannot imagine why.

Because I want to save wear on my headlights, and have full control of when I turn them on not when the car thinks I should. I typically run w/ my sidelamps on, but not headlights during the day. I have yet to have someone say that they couldn't see me. If I really need to be seen I'll flip on the HID fogs. Can't miss them!
