• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The hood of death!

it's a blast to drive, just needs some paint and a little tlc. yeah, the gp's parked for now. it's paid off, i'm keeping it till it's dead lol. i got a cam install kit and a few other things coming from zzp, and i'm trying to get the rest of it soon. it's been a year since i started this build, it's time to do it lol

yea the funny thing about it is I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy so I just left the keys at the front desk with one of the ladies...and I might have left the cutout cracked open a bit.... so he probally jumped a bit when he went to move it inside.... lol

well heres a run down of whats happened this week

Droped the car off Tuesday morning.
emailed them on Thursday for an update. and got this

Hi Cole,

The missing corners were worse than we had thought. It has been taking more work thru the week to build the layers, let them dry, add another layer the following day, repeat. We are expecting to have it back to our paint shop tomorrow to begin the paint process. You’ll be able to pick up the car tomorrow after lunch if you’d like it back while we complete the painting, or we can keep it until we are done? Just let me know one way or the other, Thanks!

Tim

I'm not sure what they mean by missing? probally that its not built up enough idk... but anyway I then asked when it would be done? I assumed late monday or tuesday since he said it was going back to paint. Their response...

I’ll be Wed. – Thurs.

Well rebuilding fiberglass does take time to cure properly. Sounds good to me now. Up until you got it into the shop was a bit of a gong show lol

yea... they guy said he would tell me when they needed my car... lol I know it will look good when their done but I think going to a high end shop might not have been the best Idea price wise

Hopefully for your sake they don't bump the price up having to refiberglass in corners to the hood. If they add on the extra labor for all this it could become redonkulous. I understand the idea of perfection and the guys in the shop want it to be right, but good god this is starting to make ME worry for you.

He would have told me before he started reglassing it again. When it cam to giving me the price he was very good at calling me beofre they would start somthing but yea this is a bit redonkulous I should have striped it down and reglassed the corners myself I'm very good with fiberglass as I have worked on high peformance sailboats my whole life and make fiberglass, and carbon fiber repairs multiple times a year.

its wed havent heard from them so I guess it won't be done untill tomorrow but I just got to thinking? what if he raised the price from what he quoted? and do you think he included tax in the quote? I might have to tell him I can't pick it up untill firday if its more so I can get my paycheck lol... I fail at money

if they raised the price with out telling you, then you simply dont pay anything over the quote. any time the cost of repair work goes up, they really should call you and let you know how much more and why. after all this time they've had you hood and car now, they should be cutting you a break i would think.

yeah, no kidding. usually you pay the price quoted, no matter how long it takes, unless you decide to change the work order. that's how flat rate works lol. also, if you're good with fiberglass, i might have some work for you if you're interested lol

So no word from them still I emailed them twice this morning and no reply I'm thinking about just surpirsing them and walking into the shop...
