Trying to get some of the little things taken care of on the car. After the tranny/cam swap I ended up with an abs light on. Not know why. maybe ya'll can help. The tcs light also stays on. The only other thing i changed was the cv shaft on the pass side. All sensors are pluged in as far as i know.

What are the only possible reasons that the abs light and the tcs light will turn on for? then i guess i will trouble shoot from there.

sounds like a bad wheel hub. both of mine went bad at the same time with 40k. get a snap on scanner and see what codes pop up.

sensor unhooked, or bad is what normally causes that, check and see if the wires weren't damaged on one, I had one of mine rub on the axle and wear a hole in the wires

well shucks thats just great...how much do 2 of those go for? and how hard to change? 3 bolts?

Wow that was a lot more than i expected. And by good aftermarket you mean? and where from?

you can get the cheap ones off the internet for about $100...but anything not OEM you risk having a defective bearing (happens more often then most would like)

As for your ABS light, did you disconnect any wiring around the steering? mine was on after some tranny work and it was a harness for the magnasteer (variable effort steering)...its all part of the TCS. You may notice your steering is a bit tighter and maybe the pump whines a bit a low speeds.

take the 2 bolts off the caliper bracket, remove the caliper and rotor, then its 3 bolts behind the bearing. like i said get a snap on scanner and see what codes its throwing, otherwise you are spending money for nothing

not bad to change, each one is about $150 for the good aftermarket, not sure on the gm one

ZZP has them for $90 shipped. I got one for my other side of my car after I already replaced my driver side one. I figured I would replace both and be done with it for a while. The ones ZZP sells seem to be darn decent and the pricing and shipping is pretty hard to beat. Plus they come with a life time warranty.

Also eBay is a good source for them as well.

Yeah after i did my tranny install about a week later i noticed that plug was not connected. So uh...If that is the case do i have to like reset the abs light somehow with and abs scanner? I dont know much on this subject but i figured that was it. but when i plugged it back in the light continued to stay on.

It's just kinda funny how my abs ligh all of a sudden came on as soon as i was done with the cam and tranny install.

I know you can get both off ebay for about $120 a pair shipped. I was thinking of getting mine from there.

O yea? well I got a buddy that works at oreillys that gets parts at cost. So i might check with him and compare prices. Thanks a lot though. do you have a link. I knew you were good for something lol.

I vote something is unplugged man.....or a frayed wire somewhere in there.

Just hate to see you drop some cash on something you don't need.

I hear ya man...So is the tcs actually off? or is just the light on? Im gunna break down and re-go over everything soon. just finished fixing my exhaust!!!! the best i can anyway. yeah!!! quite as hell...and about darn time lol.sorry im happy.

and can anyplace check for abs codes besides the dealer or someplace that would charge me?

I bet it's wiring somewhere. This one time when I was rewiring under the dash, I actually forgot to re-attatch a ground wire to the column, and it did the exact same thing. Check and RE check.

Best way to look I guess is a Tech-2, but those are a little hard to come by.
