this is why u check the ramp max supported weight. seems like ur using a truck on a car ramp.
 
i lost a old ramp the same way but i was under a puck up truck, did yours just slowing start to fold up, enough so you had the time to hear/see it and get the F out of there? mine did thank god.
 
Wow... I love my Jack Stands and use them constantly... never really trusted ramps for some reason. No horror stories or anything, just seem unstable to me, the stands I can count on :th_laugh-lol2:
 
I found a pair of those in shed last summer and threw them out immediatly, I dont trust them at all.
Ps.. I don't think using them on gravel helped either

Well thats what you get for putting a 2500 or 3500 truck on them. I have a old pair of those things and only use them on lawn mowers.
 
Yeah, using them on gravel probably put more weight on one than the other. Jack stands are cheap. I have several sets and not one ramp anywhere. Jack stands are much safer.

My friend use to use cinder-blocks and two 3' 2x4's as ramps... until one of the cinder-blocks busted while the truck was on it... That was the fastest I ever saw him move, EVAR!!!

Keep in mind on "homemade" ones, elemental wear does take effect over time, do NOT endanger yourself
 
On gravel, I wouldn't trust jack stands too much cause of them tipping. I use the plastic ramps when I can. Rated to 12,000 GVW so think I'm good.

I am not talking about making homemade ones with cinder blocks because that is just dumb. I am talking about taking some scrap metal and welding it together to make a ramp. I am still using the ramps my dad made almost 40 years ago along with the jackstands that he made back then too.
 
My eye doctors son died from an incident like this. It has made me much more cautions while working under the car.
 


The gravel is level gravel, and I don't have 78 grand to have my drivway paved. I had 4x4 blocks and the green jack under it in case this happened but yea those ramps are done... had the same vehical on them many times but I guess they finally gave in...
 
I'll take some pics of my jack stands (home made ones that are older than I am ) my next day off.. I've also had a ramp let go like that but my old grand am was on it.
