Colorado Springs/Denver area

I'm not to new here, but I thought this would be the best place to post this. Just looking for some backup to run with, and to learn with. People here and there appreciate my car, but I would like to spend time with someone who can share my new passion with my GTP. I cruise often, and like working on cars as a hobby and would like to lend a hand to anyone upgrading there car, and could use some input myself. I live in the Springs, but wouldn't mind a simple drive to have some fun.

Welcome to the community.

I think with that approach to things you'll have no problem finding people to work with. I commend you on your attitude as well, nice to get more people in here that are willing to give of themselves.

Thanks for all the hospitallity, but I'm not new...I just am looking for some coloradians to roll with!

Usually when I'm there it's brief cuz I'm headed up Rampart in my truck. But every now and then I'll go there. Did a lot when I was new here, ran the back trails and took the same pics as everyone else..except for a cool one of a prarie rattlesnake up close.

We used to take the back trails through the mountains to Cripple Creek until one day after a small snow we attempted to drive through what looked like a pile of snow on the road. Turns out it was 2 inches of snow covering a spring outlet in the side of the mountain. It was 1 & 1/2 feet of ice about 3 feet deep and wide as the road. The front tires lost traction and the whole front end slid over the cliff. I was in the passenger seat hanging over the edge. We had 5 trucks that day and we were the lead truck. The guys behind us jumped out and held on to the back bed so the truck wouldn't tip over the edge while another one of the guys pulled out his come to and hooked us up to a tree. Then they tied a rope to the brush guard on the front and then looped it around another tree so when the come-a-long pulled us in the front wouldn't go over the edge.

That was the longest 10 minutes of my life. Took me a couple of months before I built up the nerve to go out there again.

Yikes, sounds scary.

Wow, what a close call..I see cars down edges up there, and old stage and down edges all the time, especially in the winter. It can get pretty bad..and if you don't loose control like that your likely to get stuck in a hidden rivine where the snow is 5ft. deep. Glad everything worked out!

I wish I could get out to Colorado again. My buddy lived there for a few years. We visited him I think four times for a total of maybe 3 weeks. Not nearly enough time to enjoy that beautiful area. Colorado Springs was great and Boulder was fun. I didn't care for Denver though. Was very humbling seeing some of the wonders there. Garden of the Gods was great, Pikes Peak, etc. Not to mention the pool halls, college hangout in Boulder, parks, and on and on. This was probably 10 years ago now and we had a best of tour throughout the time we spent there.
