Whick plugs???

I noticed this morning that i have 4.2 in KR and i want to lower that #. Thinking colder spark plugs. Whick ones should i use. Also any ideas on what else to do to lower the KR???? I have no access to a tuner as i can't find anyone around me with one..

Use only Autolite 104 copper plugs.

Anything else to lower some knock would be getting a better intake, opening up your exhaust, and of-course larger things such as a intercooler and a cam.

Thanks. I have a FWI, and SLP cat back. My car is also N/A so not sure what an intercooler would do? Cam would be nice just not sure which one?

Depends on the mods you have.
104 are good for 3.4 and other mods.
104s on a non modded car can hurt mpg and will foul out early

Since I can't find anyone to do a tune should i go with an aftermarket PCM????

Hmmm... yeah did'nt pay attention to you being N/A so a intercooler is a no go on that one.

A aftermarket 'box tune' PCM will certianly help with knock and a lot of other small things as well. Certainly a must have if your even thinking about trying to do any kind of mods to your car, small or not.

Thanks what kind of PCM do you have and are you happy with it?

104s are too cool for a N/A engine. AL605s are one heat range colder for the N/A engines. 104s are two heat ranges colder than stock. AL606 is the stock equivalent Autolite plug.

Plugs aren't the first place to go for knock. Tuning will help out immensely, though as I'm finding out it isn't always easy going. :th_laugh-lol2:

Explain exactly how a 104 plug is 'too cool' for a N/A engine? Especially one that is modded.

It's two heat ranges colder than the stock plug. When should you EVER jump two heat ranges just for an intake and some exhaust? Most L36/L26 owners I've seen running the 104s or NGK equivalents end up fouling or suffering mileage. 605s are right on the money and that goes for some of the most modded N/A builds you can think of.
