WTB? 05/06 Stratus or 04 Grand Prix

Hello, I am in the market for a used car and I have a dealer that is willing to give me a good deal, I don’t know much about cars, so I will ask here.

I can get:

05/06 Dodge Stratus with under 16,000 miles on it
Or
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT1 with 37,000 miles on it

All three cars are the same price, I just was wondering if the Pontiac or stratus is a better car? I know the Pontiac is a bit more flashy, but the stratus(s) have lower millage and have been barely used.
Any specific pros and cons of these cons to consider?

Thanks

Dodge Transmissions blow. Stratus' are slow, and don't look good.

Get the Prix, you won't regret it. I'm on my 4th.

Put it this way, I had a '04 Dodge Intrepid for only 9 months. The tranny had some issues and spent 600 bucks to get it fixed, but it never fixed it. I had a '97 Grand Prix and loved it, only problem I had was MAF issues. I got my '05 GP in '08 with 32k on it, love it more than ever. Go with the Grand Prix, you'll like it tenfold more.

Dodge effin' anything blows. Please buy it however, everyone in the auto service industry depends on junk like that for our paychecks.

The Intrepid is a completely different car than the Stratus. You can't compare the two.

To the OP, both cars have their problems they are prone to. Look them both over carefully and do your homework. Don't come to a forum based on one of the cars you are looking at to get an unbiased opinion, because its not going to happen. Make the best decision for you.

Do the dodges have 2.7s in them? I'd go with the Prix either way but if they have 2.7s you definitely want to stay away

I was concurring with Brian's post about Dodge transmission suck.

before you buy a 2004 grand prix read up on them. they have major problems with lower intake manifold gaskets. the 2005 had the problem fixed.
i have a 2004 grand prix.
problems i have had and just fixed are
-abs issuse
-wheel bearing
-lower intake manifold gasket
lower intake manifold cost about $800 for a mechanic to repair. did it my self for $250.
other then that i love the car.
check gas mileage too. mine gets about 25 average. i was getting 20 but cleaned my throttle body and got way to 25.
i dontknow what tires cost for a startus but the grand prix is expensive.

Lower intake manifold is not normal maint. It was poorly made in the 2004 models.
I love my 04 grand prix, but just remember to get the lower intake done if it not. Could cause damage down the road if the coolent gets in your oil.

this is from experience of owning a 2004 gp gt with 3.8 motor.

If you get a gp I suggest a 05 or newer.

most of the stuff you listed is normal.. the LIM however is a costly repair if you dont do it yourself. and btw it happens on all pre 05 3.8 gps. the good news about it though is you can use the revised gasket from the 05+s and never have to worry about it again. And that problem usually occurs around 90k miles IIRC, so itll be way down the road for you OP.

but like previously stated youre only going to get biased replys here. do more research on the two and make up your mind with what suits you best
