CAI question?

ok i have a quick question about a CAI i made,
ok so heres a little back ground as most ppl know the 3.1(3.4) have a external MAF sensor so ive had find out a way to make one work,,,alright got all that taken care of and now ive been tring to hook the other things up, the IAT and a vacuum tube, ive drilled a hole for the IAT and was bout to do the same thing for the tube, but thats were i ran into a problem, the tube im using to connect the MAF to the thottle body to to short for me to drill a hole in, so i came up with an idea to take to tube and cut it, then take a hose and connect the twos halfs, basicly just making it longer so i can put it up closer to the filter, so now on to my question, is there any reason my the tube was placed behind the MAF, i want to put it infront of the MAF so i wanted to check to see if i would mess something up, but why put it behind the MAF in the frist place, if it takes air away before it enters the thottle body, does that mean that ther is less air intering the motor then the MAF reads, idk im lost, oh and fyi i think the tube is for the PCV system
heres a pic of the tube im taking about, this is not my current set up but its the only pic i have atm

any tips and .2cents are welcome

but being before or after the MAF shouldnt make a lick of difference. so long as it's there somewhere it should be fine.

why does it matter where the IAT is?

i dont think it does, but the vacuum tube is what im worried about moveing

It's a 3.1...it needs all the help it can get?

i know right, im gonna start running a NO2 bottle full of hopes and dreams in the fall

but being before or after the MAF shouldnt make a lick of difference. so long as it's there somewhere it should be fine.

ok thanks thats what i was thinking
