Grand Prix GXP exhaust on a standard Grand Prix

Has anyone tried this before? I wife wants duals so I bought the rear valance with the cutouts for duals and found I guy that has a stock GXP exhaust for sale. It looks like it will work, sure would look nicer than the
standard GT/GTP duals. Please let me know. Thanks.

Really? I can't find anything on the internet...

You would think that someone would have posted something like that
somewhere!

Anybody else know anything about doing this swap? I might go pick up the exhaust tonight or this weekend as long as I know I can make it work. Thanks.

You may need to purchase a hangar from GM for the drivers side to hang the second muffler. Most cars that don't come with duals factory will not have the hangars installed and they need to be purchased.

I swapped the midpipe on my car from single to dual from a GT model grand prix NOT a GXP. fairly inexpensive too the midpipe was $90 ish dollars and i picked it up from my local NAPA store. i can give you the part number if you like. it comes with the hangers welded on you just need to weld hangers on the mufflers. and there won't be a hanger on the body on the driver side as well.

part number @ napa is 55367.

Hope this helps. :D

I think that I'm going to buy it. After looking under her car it looks like it will work. I might need a flange or something up front because I'm sure the pipe is a different diameter. I'll also have to see if I can order the hangers and rubber isolaters I will need as well. Any advice on where to purchase that stuff? Thanks.

pipe is the same diameter . the exhaust shop just cut my old midpipe off at the resonator and welded the new one on.

It's loud with the resonator so i would recommend leaving it on unless you want alot of Drone inside the car.

As far as hangers/isolaters any exhaust shop should have what you need. Napa might even carry them as well. The exhaust shop that did mine didn't even charge me for the little parts. i just brought in the midpipe, mufflers, and tips, they did the rest.

**edit** i'll try to get my car up on a hoist this afternoon and take some pictures for ya. no guarantees the service manager is sometimes hard to convince. wednesdays are our shop days here :(

Well I picked up the GXP exhaust today and it looks like the tips might not line up with the standard GT openings (they are closer together from one side to the other) My muffler guy will need to do a little modification to make this work or maybe just hack the tips off and put different ones on. I'll let you guys know how things progress.

:th_thumbsup-wink: I put dual exhaust on my 96 GP with camro tips and added the gt bumper from that year with you guessed it the two exhaust cut out's. thinking of having them cut off and have flow masters put on mine.. besides mine is a v6 anyway.
