ok, so a kid i know just bought an 06? srt-4 and is talking a lot of ****. im just wondering what it would take to beat him so i dont go out and embarrass myself in front of a bunch of people. the only thing its got is an overiszed intake and the kid just started driving stick today when he bought the car. sorry for the what do you think thread, but umm.. what do u think it would take lol.. i have a bone stock 2000 gtp coupe
 


i walloped all over one the other day, but i have a few mods that pushed me their.

i say go out and give him a run. if he wins, congratulate him on buying a neon
 
lol touche... so do you think i have even a chance at him? the only thing i think ive got going for me is that the kid doensnt know how to drive a stick

well he might get to excited and stall it out ...give it a try even if you have a feeling you might lose just say **** it and go for it

I'll second that. Remember, there will always be somebody quicker/faster than you so just go for it.

Just make sure that if you do get beat; take it like a man and try running him again after you add some mods.
 


yeah, well like i said he just started driving stick yesterdayy. so im not thinkin hes gonna be good, and when i rode with him today he was barely getting it and asking how fast it felt. like wed hit full boost for maybe two seconds literally and hed shift and i think its becayse the gauge cluster has a red line starting there and i dont quite think he understands. so i guess ill give him a run when i ge back into town
 
try to get him to run it from a dig, thoes skittles (srt4) and pretty mean from a roll. My wife has a pt cruiser gt turbo with the srt4 motor and a stage 1 turbo upgrade and it is way faster than anyone would guess but even when I beat someone I cant help feeling fruity in that damn car. Your auto will help ya and if he isnt so great with a stick he will spin or stall and you should have him. If he can drive just stand on it and hope for the best. If ya lose congratulate him and say you will run him again when you are modded more.
 


He should beat you, statistically by a few lengths. X2 on taking him from a stop, if he can't shift he's got a few more gears to screw up on that way. The turbo will kill you on the top end.

I've got a few beginner mods and was able to turn a 14.0 1/4 mile, while my friend who has a srt4 turned a 14.4 1/4 mile with about the same beginner mods, I think something was wrong with his car because he was shifting pretty good with a nice launch. The srt4s can hit 300hp pretty easily too, with very few mods. I like them, about the only car I don't consider rice with a 4banger turbo.
 
when i drove a stock srt-4 they are garbage from a stop, 1sr gear is 0-15 mph, second gear is from 15- somewhere around 40mph, then 3rd was sumthin rediculas like 40-90mph, from a stop i guarantee he will spin so bad then have to shift, while your in the clear 1st-2nd gear, im not saying u wont spin eather but your shift points are way better, the 1st-2nd in a "turbo neon" is like a tractor trailer truck.
 
ha there gears arent THAT low. second does about 60 or a little more. when i rode in one first and second felt pretty strong but then 3rd just fell off and 4th felt like he put on the brakes. go from a dig. he is new at driving a stick, problew will screw up the launch and the 1-2 shift. hopefully you will be far enough ahead that he cant catch you.
 
alright im trying to get ahold of him between work.. i work at the hospital so i can get called in whenever and i always work days and hes on nights.. but ill let you kow after it happens
