Rear Valve Cover

How do i get it off!? im going crazy lol. I took everything around it off except that one big bracket that holds the Alt in place and has those 2 hoses attached to it. Do i really need that to come off because i'm almost positive last time it just slid out from under it or something. I don't remember having to take it off.

It just looks like there's way to much attached to that one piece for it to have come off last time. I tried cranking the engine over so it would close the valves and make more clearance but it didn't help.

I pull that bracket when I do them. I guess you can get it off with out doing it, put I just pull the bracket.

Word around the forum is you need to loosen that bracket off and slide it forward some. Dont think it has to be taken completely off. How goes the battle so far, Valve Cover gaskets are in my not so distant future.

hmm alright, well i tried taking the 2 most visible bolts out to see if that would loosen it but it didn't.. how many bolts are there in total that come out?

3 bolts hold the tensioner bracket on. Just be careful not move that much and break one of the plastic coolant elbows.

Buy a set of elbows and change them when you pull the bracket. $4 is worth not having a leak when you are done.

The third bolt is out of sight. Reach your hand back on that bracket and feel where it continues past the heater hose a bit.

ok thanks guys, i ended up finally getting it off!

But then i got stuck on the rear header haha man was that a pain in the ass to wedge out of there.

no i was taking the header off of the car and the way the shape of it is just made it so hard to wedge out. It was a lot easier going in then coming out
