139k on '04 top swap-able?

So like the title says I have a 2004 GP with 139k on it. Would it be a bad idea to do a top swap on it. Or should I get an engine from a scrap yard and then build off of that?
I asked my uncle and he talked to his coworker about it who works on cars and that guy said it would be like telling an 80 year old to go run a marathon and I would blow up the engine but I wanna get opinions from GP owners

i bet it would be ok. you'll replace the top end, so the only thing you'll have to worry about are pistons (which are bulletproof if you tune it right) and rod/main bearings. 139k isn't that high

Pistons, and rings which have been worn in under certain conditions and exceeding / changing them may drastically accelerate wear.

Personally I wouldn't do it. However, I believe there have been many here that have top swapped high mileage engines successfully.

Also keep your transmission in the back of your head during this.

Thanks guys, I think Im gonna go for it since it runs good and if something does end up happening to the tranny in the long run I have someone that can rebuild it for pretty cheap :th_biggrin2:

there was a built 200k mile engine that ran low 12's. i dont recall who had it. if your engine is maintained, before and after the swap, itll be fine.
