I am not sure what the problem is here. Dealerships have been the same since the beginning of time. Factory parts cost more than aftermarket. That is why the aftermarket exists. This is why parts get discontinued after the car is so old.
As far as GM rebadging. They have always done this. All manufactures do this to cut cost. As a major Pontiac fan, I think dropping pontiac was a mistake. But GM said it has not made a profit in years. I hope the new focus in the Buick, and Chevrolet will bring some affordable performance back to the market.
Pontiac is also the only brand that was not put up for sale like the others. Some people are holding out for the return of Pontiac as a true performance brand when GM gets completely back up on their feet.
Not to mention they were selling cars like the Aztek that helped ruin the brand in recent years, and good cars like the GTO were never really advertised all that well like it should've been.
