im looking at the speed daddy headers and i know the slip joints are the problem with them and i was woundering if anyone has tried or thought about doing this....splitting the crossover and welding part to the front and rear header like the s&s headers. Maybe a short piece on the rear and longer on the front since the front is easier to install. Then just have a flange or v band welded to connect the crossover and you wouldnt have to worry bout slip joints leaking.



also could i put my o2 sensor on the crossover like zzp has on their header or would that be a bad idea? If so that would take care of the sensor hitting the floor board.

 


i think it would be a good idea cuz it would solve the problem they have and make install easy. cleaner look also. just have to get them welded and thats not a big deal.

what do you guys think
 
thinking about it. i bet someone has to of done it and hasnt said anything bout it. it would be like a ss knock off in a way. anyone done this step up
 
doubtful that anyone has done it. replacing the slip joints with flanges is an okay idea, but you have to do it right or itll be an ever worse seal than the slip joint is.

the o2 sensor relocation people have done.
 


With the o2 relocation to say on the crossover would it still read proper or would it be off? I was curious if anyone done it or not. But you have a good point if not measured just right could make it a headache. Wat bout just welding it to the rear header like the zzp headers? Or could you do it to The front one and install them that way?
 
the S&S headers also had the o2 in the crossover. i never had a problem with it running funny because of it and i ran a wideband in the downpipe for tuning purposes. if youre tuning off the narrowband youre going to have a tune that is off regardless of what you do.
 
Mine have the O2 in the crossover. Never had an issue with it being there. Runs the same and tunes the same. I wasn't sure about it when I bought them, but it seems to be a non issue, but it sure is a hell of a lot easier to change the sensor than all the others out there.
 
Yea I bet. I just want to move it so install would be easier and wouldn't have to worry bout the o2 hitting the tunnel. But how much low end does headers take away switching to them?
It wouldn't be for tuning it would be just for the stock o2 sensor.
 


IF headers bleed off that much, believe it or not, some cars don't see a difference in boost when you add headers.

Mine dropped 3 psi alone with a DP back in the day. Another buddy of mine, didn't see any difference.
 
Ok thanks for all the input guys. So it sounds like each car will react to headers different then. If you just add headers how much of a drop will it let you do? Also what if added hr rockets to the mix?
Other thing is if switched to a gen V do I need tuned or anything?

It would work. But headers are better.

Also I had 14.5 psi on my manifolds and a 3" dp. Since I've switched to headers the most I see now is 11psi on the 3.4.
 
I got another question guys. How would a gen V with rockers work with a plog setup? Just getting info

kinda crappy. I didn't like the way my car was running like that but, i also have an L36 car. When i switched to headers, i felt a difference.
