Dont bother.

Just port it like this:

All i did was add a chamfer and extend the lines down to the bottom.

You'll want shorter bolts as well.

I prefer to use parts cleaner for stuff like the intake.

But you could just take a dremel to it and smooth out everything and open the inlet diameter up a little.

Make sure you use a TB as a reference so you dont open it up too much.

Mine came spotless from ZZP. I also clean mine when I pull the blower off. But thats just me. Never effects boost or has any ill effects

well then.

Just don't touch the rotors.

they will flake because they love life.

Or as ZZP told me, you guys are using poor quality air filters.

yeah because the k&n filters they sell dont filter worse than factory paper ones. :th_lipssealed1:

ZZPoopheads told you that Matt? The reason our SC's etc get crappy looking inside is related to two things. First is the EGR, clean a TB and you'll see that the majority of the dirt is behind the throttle plate. That's EGR related. Second is the PCV, which tends to allow a little oil to blow by.

On the rotor area of the casing. Your's looks very scored. If you aren't stuck using that casing, I'd suggest finding another. The thing about cleaning it is the carbon that built up in there is helping to seal the rotors to the case. This helps the efficiency of the blow, not hurt it. Cleaning would hurt efficiency.

PM me your email address. I'll forward it. :D

I asked about flaking....

Wouldnt the carbon build up have a higher coefficient of friction increasing outlet temps?

Matt...it might have a greater coefficient, but where's the benefit/or hinderance of opening up the tolerance vs the added heat? I'm unsure. Gen 3's in my experience are heat pumps, so anything you can do to get more air and try to keep temps down...I'm all for it.

On the dremel. Go buy one at Walmart, the return policy is great if you have one close by...you'll definately get a couple freebes doin the SC. One trick though..don't press as hard. Let the flap wheel do the work, it'll go slightly slower...but you won't kill half as many.

Yes..I killed about 8 in the past. Got the pics of the smokey room to prove it. :D

Carbon coated rotors it is then.

I tend to nuke bits with the dremel.

$8 dremel too.

Pneumatic grinder FTW.

$4 bit has lasted me two ported S/C cases, one TB and now my LIM.

Cheated with the LIM and used an angle grinder for the long cuts though.
