• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

My Mods.. Whats next..? Help!

· Retuned air/fuel ratios reduce the amount of engine knock and knock retard;

·
Transmission shift points that have been remapped throughout the entire throttle range. The transmission will upshift in a sportier manner, downshifts are more responsive to throttle input, bogging from torque converter lockup greatly reduced. Skip shifts are enabled, to allow the transmission to shift down to 1st gear up to 43mph (in cars with performance shift mode), and to 2nd gear on the highway up to 85mph, giving more power available when you want it.

·
2nd gear start added to provide better traction during winter driving. Manually shift into 2nd gear starts in 2nd gear.

·
Performance shift mode added - changes engine characteristics on how the transmission shifts and rev limiter changes etc..

·
Transmission fluid pressure controls are completely remapped to provide consistent shift quality and reduced shift times for increased performance and potential increase in life expectancy of electronics and hard parts from reduced slippage of clutches, reduced fluctuation of fluid pressures based on small changes in temperature and engine output, and revised torque management allowing reduced engine power during upshifting and downshifting so the transmission doesn't have to change gears against the full power output of the engine.

·
Proprietary use of boost control at part throttle limits boost spikes and boost early onset. This reduces the need to activate performance fueling too early and reduces burst fuel requirements.

·
Deceleration Fuel Cutoff and Deceleration Enleanment has been reprogrammed to be more aggressive, saving fuel when decelerating.

·
Idle speed is slightly increased to smooth idle vibrations from polyurethane motor mount installations, to increase cooling and charging at idle and power steering assist at low speed turns.

·
Air/Fuel ratios in abuse modes, rev limiter and traction control modes are reprogrammed from dangerously lean to more acceptable levels incase they activate during performance use. -The timing advance dip that occurs during the transition from cruise into boost is removed for better mid-throttle acceleration.

Engine:

· 180deg thermostat
· Full fender well intake
· 75mm Northstar throttlebody
· 3.4" supercharger pulley. Increases boost from 8 to 11psi.
· Flowmaster mufflers
· Removed "U" bend to reduce exhaust restrictions

Thats what was in the ad when the guy sold it to me. i havent done an "Engine" mod since, ive added a new grille and LED Tails, planning on projectors in the spring when this damn snow clears up and then puttin my 18" American Racing rims on that i had on my Grand Am.
ive had the car 2 months or so and spring is coming..

Need to know what are my next best options.
Headers are an obvious one, then what...
Posting where to get em, what parts il need, HP gain and install hours would be greatly appreciated.

My bro wanted to know how much a cam would do for this car ( a GTP) horsepower wise.

PS. He has a 98 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 (Automatic). He plans on doing a swap for most of the parts from a 99-04 Mustang and adding 4.10 gears etc.

How close would we be in a race?

no one knows how fast it would be, but this car would probably be raped by one members stock pulley car.

3.8 pulley, headers and slicks = raped.

you need MANY MORE flow mods.

In otherwords you need headers or a PLOG and DP.

then consider an intercooler/cam/heads/rockers or three.

rockers and cam can be used together but they're not cost efficient.

Bottom line is the tune.

it alone will determine how fast the car is.

I know i need flow mods.. after headers, cam?
also keep in mind im a student whos only 17 (turning 18 this year) working part time paying my own insurance LOL.
So its difficult to save money.

then get some speed daddy headers ($272 to your door) and get it re-tuned.

then just leave it for a while till you can afford to play some more.

most other major mods after that cost $600+ by the time you figure in shipping and all that.

yeah i gotta find out where i can get it tuned around here. he had it in kitchener and were in london. we dont have squat here. probably toronto.

Handheld tuners do nothing for these cars...so no...and a used DHP tuner is 99% of the time shipped to your front door for less money than a handheld one that gives you nothing in return.

DHP Powertuners aren't for sale new anymore...so you'll have to hunt the classified sections here and elsewhere...as for new? HP Tuners is the way to go...but they are $500+...and can be bought from ZZP, 3800 Performance, etc.

I know that car fairly well, I'm friends with the previous owner...

It had an in car tune by Overkill (Will) with all of it's current modifications...You don't have to worry about knock with that thing.

Assuming it's stock, you will have no problem walking your brother's car...The generation of GTs are slow!

Will also did an in car tune for my GT when it was NA with just a u-bend del, intake and L67 TB...It responded very well....Since then I have put a new engine in and gone with a turbo from Kevin at CarTuning. Kevin did the in car for that and the car is amazing...I would recommend either one of those guys.

I think there is a dhp for sale on here.

Headers, cam, retune\

or if you don't have the $$ for a cam, then 1.9 rockers, headers, and re-tune would wake that car up a lil bit.

Will left me with 1-3* of KR.

But hey, that was on the dinner plate sized 3.8 pulley. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Also...too bad that if you don't live in Canada Cartuning SUCKS as a reference.

Will is great...but no knock is good knock...you want 0 across the board...I hate how people say there is "okay" knock or an acceptable amount...because the more mods and the smaller the pulley...the more devastating and exponentially worse knock becomes...5-8* on a stock pulley is motor blowing knock on a 2.6" or 2.8"...just something to keep in mind too.

Everyone around here runs a couple sizes too small a s/c pulley for their mods.

it just happens.......

Guy has a car running 11's on slicks with a gen V, ic, XP cam.

thats it........ 2.55 pulley as well.

3.4 pulley with a catback is normal it seems.

yeah my scan gauge does say 0.0 knock retard. so. he seemed like he knew what he was doing with this car so. but i will eventually do a cam and headers and get it retuned. i just need $$$

Set your scan gauge up so it reads the timing advance and KR at the same time.

Then go for a WOT run.

Just curious how much timing you're running.

Also what gas do you run? Ultra 94 or 91?

When did speed daddy's go from $205 shipped to $272?
