sway bar options

So I want to Replace both sway bars, front and back along with the trailing arms. I dont really want to go with GMPP sway bars as they are still hollow. Is there anybody else that makes the rear sway bar besides SLP front and rear package. i know theirs are expensive, but im willing to pay. just want to know my options. I searched and couldnt come up with anything. thanks in advanced

SLP has the biggest rear sway bar besides one other company IIRC.

Bigger rear sway bar = less understeer which is the main issue with these cars.

I just installed the GMPP bars front and rear, it made a huge difference for the better. The whole car just feels tighter without being too jarring. It's my daily driver so I didn't want it too stiff when I go into Boston or anywhere else where our roads are so great. I have a set of UMI trailing arms I will be installing soon so I'll be able to tell if they make a huge difference.

I think I saw a thread somewhere mentioning RAT sway bars, but I have no idea what/ who that company is or what size the bars are. As you can probably see in my avatar, I also have an interest in getting larger sway bars.

RAT is no longer in business. The only way to find them is used and I havent seen one in a LOOOONG time.....

next best is speedbulit

where is a sway bar exactly? is it the bar under the car or in the trunk and engine bay? pics would be cool?

yeahhhhhh im still not quite sure what you are talking about. ive got an idea but im pretty sure im wrong. say bars lesson the lean that you get when you crank on the wheel right??

Re: sway bar options -HALP!!!

Guys:

On my 'O3 GTP, it's in the air, I have the sway bar loose and the bushings off and I can't get it out. I gotta get this thing back on the ground tonight. Do I have to loosen or remove what looks like the two front subframe bolts?

It's so close , it seems like I just need another 1/2" or so. Ain't that always the way it goes?!

Much obliged,

Tom

I was able to wiggle my old onw out by:
- manouvering it part way to one side, driver or passanger try both,
- then let get the end on the other side to drop below the cradle
- fish the bar out the other way, through the bottom of the cradle.

re-intall in reverse
- I flipped the bar , I was told for better downpipe clearance GMPP front
- I had to disconnect the drivers tie-rod,
- unbolt the nipple of the ball-joint on the tie-rod end and just manouver this piece when/ if required to avoid messing with the alignment.

If it's the front you can lower the subframe, or do what I did and unhook one of the tie rods to slide it out.

Just loosen them dont pull them out. You can take one out to see how much there is for thread, if you pull both the back of the cradle will drop.

I used the GMPP sway bars for 3 years in my Monte Carlo SS and they are so weak that they should have been equiped stock for emergency avoidance reasons. I currently use the solid ZZP Progress front sway bar with the 1" hollow ADDCO rear sway bar with awesome results(!), as in the "SS" badge finally lives upto it's name, cheap-ass's at GM be damned.
