• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

With my head hung low...I am admitting defeat.... :(

Your ClubGP Liason
Well, almost a year ago Logan (minichopper6hp) and I got together and I had him make me a custom phenolic intercooler core. The core would be only 1/4" thicker than an SSIC, but would be able to have some of the same gains as going to a full-sized ZZP unit. The core was done by Spring 2010 and I started to put everything together.......................urggh!

My list of issues:

  1. Hood clearance issues with my engine spacers and new core. Blower sat too high for the hood to close.
  2. Custom reservoir bracket I had made won't clear the lateral brackets because of my engine spacers raising the engine up therefore raising the bracket up.
  3. The core has inlet/outlet similar to the SSIC, but because I have an aftermarket supercharger belt tensioner arm, I can't get a good angle for the line to come into the core

About a month and a half ago I had it, I'm really at my wits end with this project.

I won't cut my hood, I don't want to get rid of the engine spacers b/c my lowered car will have vibrations.

What really bothers me about this is that the core is GREAT!! The quality and build was second to none, but my setup just won't allow it to be run........:(

So I'll be de-modding it this weekend, if anyone is in the market for some neat one-off parts, keep an eye out in classifieds this weekend!!!

So your just gunna demod the intercooler and put it back to what?

Not really sure yet, Might go back to an SSIC, or I might change my power adder all together...

basically you tried to make it sit inside the LIM like the PRJ core?

No, this core sits on top of the LIM just like most of the cores on the market today, it is in between an full sized 2.25" core, and an SSIC core, made out of phenolic.

Also considering that bio. Especially since the car is no longer a daily driver. I could go all out and do some heads...and an XPZ ;)

i am a fellow lowered GTP and i don't have vibrations. i do feel the poly mounts in the steering wheel that's about it. you said the car isn't a daily driver anymore so why not live with the vibration? vitalssj is selling that cartuning kit, hop on that, sell off the gen V and headers and be turbo like me! :D

my engine is raised 1/4" above the stock location because of my lowering springs, if I put cradle spacers in, it would just bring the engine back down to stock height, as might as well just take out the engine spacers.

Qwik: I've considered living with the vibrations, but the car is my weekend cruiser, not a race car. It's built quick, but is a show car also. I want to enjoy my evening cruises and not have to feel the vibrations. It will bother me to no end, thats just the kind of guy I am.

Hmm, the more I think about it the more this makes sense to me....................

So I have an XP right now..... what do you guys think? XPZ with some worked heads??

Id punch myself in the face before ever putting another intense product in my engine. the the tep is a possibility
