Its cool Blown, up until this post I never ran into a issue about getting help on any question I had about this car. Before this Gp I always had big body cars (Caprices, Grand Marquis and Crown Vics). I was in a forum for all of them. I finally get this car at a price that I couldnt ignore. So like my other cars I looked into a forum, who wouldnt? Everybody seemed cool that I talked to thus far, but this doesn't really change how I feel about the forum in anyway. I guess I could have looked up some info on the Internet but I figured that since I'm in a forum I would just ask. I'm all man about mine and I should have just searched for it first before asking. I just didnt see the reason to call somebody dumb about a question (I thought was important) considering a mechanic told me that I could blow the motor. I never had a car that I could actually build and I'm quite excited about it honestly. But I'm just gonna let it go....Everybody is different and its not worth me being heated about it.If it's a hassle for you to be a moderator, then give up the job and give it to someone who wants it. I would think there'd be more important issues to attend to rather than entering a newbies thread, strutting your **** and acting like an ass.
Really good first impressions for the board...
Ok so, I didnt go into detail, all I know is I have most of the parts pretty much giving to me and this mechanic comes up with this story about the pistons and rods not being able to take the added pressure from the SC...now in the past i've seen so many members in the forum that have done this swap that I figured I would just ask and go from there, if this is true I would just go in a different direction you know, like sell the swap parts and maybe try to get a motor out of a GTP which is beginning to look like an option.the way the thread came across was as such "i'm going to top swap but a mechanic said my pistons can't handle it, is this true?"
Most assume that you've done the research if you're going to top swap, but the way the thread read suggested otherwise.
The shock of someone planning to mod their car but not knowing if their car can handle it resulted in that thread.
Honestly Vet, if I did ask a question and somebody said something like that I just might lol I do have a temper at times!!! But anyway its all good and your right it is the InternetMore whining on GPF no way!! My god people its the damn internet. You people make it sound like if someone says something you dont like in person your gonna take a swing at them! Get a grip dont cry because someone pissed in your cereal.

I respect you Bio and except your apology I'm sorry too for making a big deal of it, and not looking into it before I asked the forum, everybody has bad day and I didn't realize How many people might have the same question that I posted and that would get annoying....Like I said this is all new to me and I just wanna make sure I get it right you know. A friend of mine said I should just cam it but that SC option looks so awesome man. But its all good man, Are we cool?i enjoy moderating and i enjoy the people here, so me taking leave of this probably isnt going to happen anytime soon. either way if youre looking for an appology: im sorry. given that i was actually a nice person i would have referenced a few links for you, then closed the thread, but it didnt play out that way. that was my poor decision for doing that, but the problem is that i see this every day. some days i dont mind, some days it gets to me. your thread just happened to get to me at that point in time.
however, i believe that once you have taken this endeavor under your belt that you should have done more research before you even asked the question. you need to run more mods in comparison to an L67 block because of the compression ratio in order to keep detonation down. there are good and bad ways around this. however, do it first the right time and just cam your car. youll thank us later.
until you decide what your true path is, i think you need to hit the books.
Thanks man!!!If youve seen so many others do this then why wouldnt it work? Because some "mechanic" said it wouldnt and apparently doesnt know much about the 3800. The interchangeability of these engines is huge not to mention a way way bigger aftermarket than the average grandprix/impala/monte carlo/regal ect. owner has any clue about should be a good suggestion that a "top swap" can and WILL work throw that mechanics comment out the window in short he's very WRONG. :th_thumbsup-wink:
I dont really care one way or the other, but you dont have call anybody dumb, all that was needed to be said was yes or no and theres more info on the forum. That doesn't seem to be to hard does it? Being the main reason people join a forum is to get info and to meet people who have the same interest. Better yet the person was a moderator, idk just sayin.
Yeah I know, Its stupid and disrespectful to call somebody dumb, who actually came into a forum that deals with the car in question to see if what an actually mechanic said could happen? Like I said the person in question dont know nothing about me to be calling me dumb.
