Guages

GP2003GT

not sure if i alrady asked this but i was curious as to what people think i should get for guages i have air/fuel and was thining short sweep oil and volt...anyone have other suggestions?

Trans temp and oil pressure are always popular ones. Since you are n/a, I would think volts would be a better one than A/F. I have an A/F gauge and will be the first to tell you it is more for show than anything as the narrowband O2 sensor which it reads is not good and giving accurate a/f readings.

Well there ya go then. Oil temp is a great gauge to use. However, without a special adapter that goes between your oil filter and the housing (cant be used on the GP 3800 due to the proximity of the oil filter to the suspension such as the lower control arm) or taping into an oil feed of some kind in the block perhaps, they are hard to set up.

I have not seen them used much in the GP community. However with me pulling out my engine and tranny, I plan on finding such a place that a valid temp reading could be taken from. We'll see how that all goes.

They're easy. A T-adapter at the oil pressure sensor...

unless you got a system a volt gauge is pretty useless. its only good for diagnosing when your alternator is going out. save your money and buy that one later or something if you really want it.

I have had more alternators fail than bearings, so I think a volt gauge would be used more than an oil pressure gauge (I have had 1 engine that had an oil pressure issue) I am a bit weird I guess I want to know I have enough voltage for my electronic ignition at all times

if my car BEGINS to run low on oil i know it because of my oil pressure gauge. if it ever drops too low i will immediately shut the car off.

spun bearings happen in like 15 seconds of running with not enough oil.

I know when my car is low on oil as I check it at least weekly (running low voltage can kill many parts including battery and pcm) what I am saying is you should have a volt gauge and oil pressure gauge ( only stock gauge that is worth having btw is a speedo the rest are so inaccurate as to be just decoration for the most part)
