ZZP Race Pellet & Happy Knob

While looking at ZZP's website I came across this product ZZ Performance Anyone ever used it?

After more research I found something called a "Happy Knob" which does the same thing. I'm looking at the option to be able to add timing, when running race gas and have read that it can be done by modifying the IAT spark advance table in the PCM and fooling the IAT sensor into thinking it is cooler. See: What is a Happy Knob I've heard of people making these and wondered if anyone had some experience or instructions to make one. Caspers sells a timing commander for the 3800 that does the same thing for $150, but I've heard they are simple to make.

Anyone ever made one or used one? And let me say in advance that I do have an Aeroforce gauge and will be scanning if I ever use this.

Old school...for sure.

Pretty sure it wasn't very safe either to use a race pellet...but they were used before I got into the game.

You need a potentiometer that has the resistances that match the iat at -40,-30,-20 ect. Not sure on the numbers tho.

I am old school....Don't want a tuner right now. Just want to add some timing and race gas occasionally.

happy knob only works when you get tuned to use it. therefore, no way to tune: no way to make happy knob work.

i have the caspers electronics timing commander, with a tune to make it work. Its awesome, the ability to make the car go from -8* to +7* over your base timing on the fly...

I have a 1.0 tune now and will have the timing tables modified to allow it to work. With those two items in mind are you still saying it is not going to work?

itll work, but youre still going to have to tune it accordingly. you can set each turn of the dial to be something completely different. id suggest a few below base timing, base timing, and a few above.

You'd need to have a laptop tuner to tune for it though...not just something you can kinda toss on and hope for or have a "base" tune for it either...
