whats the highest mileage ls1 you can safely buy?

was looking at a b4c police oursuit package z28 camaro for 5k with 127k on it.....

my friends dad got a 98 camaro that is daily driven on the highway and has over 160k and it runs stronger than ever.

I say that if the motor is taken care of then what is there to worry about, they are meant to be driven and mileage is no big deal.

Ls1's last forever if maintained right. My buddy has around 189k on his 99 z28 and it is still fast as ****.

I had 96K on my SS when I sold it, and it was just getting warmed up IMO. Mileage doesn't scare me. It's not a 1970's small block 350 in there. :)

I'm sure the motor in that cop car is good and all, but you gotta remember IT WAS a cop car, so it had the absolute piss beaten out of it. I know the 2 LS1 Camaro's our town had were knocking and leaking a quart of oil a day ithin the first 2 months...

My experiences with the F-bodies have been very positive; even with the high mileage of the second one. And I beat them like a rental car.

ive seen more then a few with headgasket issues BUT thats from lack of care over higher miles

All new engines should last 300k it goes down the harder you beat on them

I test drove an Ls1 camaro a while back, I think it had around 180k miles and it ran pretty good, but it was elderly owned and was bone stock.

a thing you have to rmeber with cop cars is when itss hot a **** out they sit with the car running for hours andthen they just beat the piss out of them

when i was in the market for my gtp i looked at some police impalas, i though itd be bad ass, but now that i see what they are doing to the new chargers ill never consider buying a cop car

I still like paying extra for lower millage motors. I like knowing they are taken care of.

But does low mileage mean it was taken care of? I disagree. In fact, I would say the exact opposite; an engine that wasn't maintained wouldn't have achieved the high mileage it did in some cases.
