Does anybody have a good picture of the stereo portion of the dash with the dash panel removed? Basically a better, closer up picture like this one:

I'm interested in the right side of the radio and the contour/shape of the dash where the dash panel sits. I don't have time to remove mine, so you would just save me some time.

Don't ask, but it has to do with me making a mount for my iPhone. Details will follow when/if I get it done of course. :)

Maybe if you supplied a goal we could help in that manner too? What if you even designed a cut out of your center console and created an "opening" that allows a secured/stable iPhone dock to reside? There's after market HU's that are designed to interact with the iPhone using USB. It would also allow you to hide the wiring for the power supplying the dock too. Now you have charging AND interaction?

I did supply the goal; I'm making a mount for my iPhone. :th_winking:

Something like the Brodit mounts. KudaUSA makes some nice one's to, but I don't really like the looks of them. Here is the Brodit mount for the new GP's:

For me, that is the "sweet spot" to have my device mounted.

I saw that thread. A few guys from my old SC group did the same type of install. IMO, A+ for style and looks, but it fail's for functionality; if I have to look down to far or contort my arm to use the device, why bother having it in that location. I might as well get a flip out screen that blocks the air vents.

I have a good JVC deck and a Carcomm cradle that charges and puts audio to the rear of the deck; no wires seen. I might buy a new deck with iPod capability, but we'll see. I hate all these new decks that you have to plug the iDevice into the front; what a crappy look. I am happy with my set up in my old ride. Hopefully I can stay happy with it. :th_laugh-lol2:

nort sure if this what you want, but heres when i tore mine apart
Thanks CMURDAx, that does help. :th_beer-toast1:

If anybody has a shot a little closer, and a little more to the right of the stereo, lets see it. :)

I guess I didn't realize you needed to interact with the phone directly? My assumption was charging and playing music. The biggest problem with majority of the third party devices that allow you to operate iPods, etc.(from the deck) is lack of intuitive controls for thousands of music files. The other problem is when people get picky about how it operates :)

Anyways, good luck with all that. The idea I would have proposed fails if you need to use it while driving. Btw, majority of those newer decks connect through the back.
