• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Police Scanners

Neighbor is a cop. I just talk with him.

Spiderman comment.........Parker uses it to tell where the trouble is. His spider sense isn't strong enough to cover all of NYC.

honestly i wish there were an app that could track each and every police car by satelite...like a hack to tell everyone car positions. would be way better then using radar detectors. but other then that i geuss scanners are nice to listen to wen ur 50 and retired.

Also nice when you are cruising..

I used mine alot when I was in high school when we were doing illegal activities.. however our PD went to a "trunking" setup...so it rendered the scanner useless. They do have trunking scanners now, however... most PD's encrypt their communication now.

Here is a weblink... i recommend Los Angeles, CA ... cause Cali is freaking nuts.

@Lawngoose-wanna sell your bearcat?

But you can listen to scanners from all jurisdictions using radiorefernce.com

I use them, interesting to know whats going on when you hear sirens around...I have a uniden bct15x in my 06 and works good, I have the antenna inside the car hidden behind the windshield pillar molding, reduces signal a little but worth it to have inside.

The last police ridealong I did was in the late 90s. At that point, the locals were considering a system that would track all patrol vehicles to allow HQ to know where everyone was at any time.
Like a lowjack or a GPS tracking bug. Don't know if they ever did it. It makes a lot of sense for tactical and management reasons.

During one big chase, when we pulled up to the scene (guy already cuffed), there were at least 30 cars there.
It looked like something out of the Blues Brothers. But the remainder of the city had about zero police protection.

Any city that has this system can have this system hacked.

My scanner had a function that would alarm whenever it detected a cop's repeater within a couple of miles. Unfortunately it was always sounding off, very irritating and not very useful.

obviousley... but you got what you wanted, opinions. They work here and there until you hit an under detective without a radar turned on. Try going 95 in a 30 with a scanner that fails.
