i've modified the mounting unit so that the ipod cord goes behind and into the little storage area below

Thanks man for pointing me in the right direction.
I got the avh-p4200dvd from crutchfield and finished installing everything. I am able to retain the On-Star and steering wheel controls feature.

My problem is viewing of DVD. Even with parking brakes applied i still cant get past the freaking warning message. I currently have the pioneer parking brake connected to the
[FONT=&quot]GM Onstar GMOS-01 Class II Interface. Should i be connecting to something else??
I don't really want to bypass the safety features, i just want it to show video when i applied parking brakes.

Any idea??

the easiest thing to do is run the parking wire to a switch. hide it under your dash or something. run the parking wire from one side of the switch and on the other side run a wire to a common ground. to watch the dvd or w/e flick the switch once or twice until the message goes away. i install car audio in buffalo ny and this is what we do to overcome this problem. there really isnt another way.

this is what i did for mine.. works like a charm, no switch to mess with

Yup, same thing i did for mine too. I initially had problem but narrowed it down to partial contact on the relay. Working like a charm now.
Funny thing is, i would have settled for the the parking brake if only it worked. I know i wont be watching while driving but cant say the same for my brother or friend when they borrow my ride.
