You know the chrome plated ones crack and the paint chips off over time right?
FAIL. That's a good BS line. The plastic is polished, it doesn't look like it will ever peel/crack off, it's NOT PAINT.
Anyways, the trick to get these out is-
Get a flashlight and a tool that has a 90 degree bend it in.. Like a pick, or a thin screw driver.
Next, you need some pliers and some masking tape.
First off, wrap tape around the center slat in the vent (the one that sticks out the most). Put two layers.. You are going to put your pliers on this piece, and this will aid with avoiding scratching/gouging the plastic.
So, you have your vent slat taped.. You have the pliers holding the slat with your left hand. Use your right hand and flash your light into the vent. You'll see there are little plastic tabs holding the unit in place. Rotate the vent assembly with your left hand until you can find a decent angle to slip your angled screwdriver in. Once you find a good angle, swap your flashlight for your prying tool.. Now you have to basically use some patience, and pop them off.. Every time you get a tab to pop off, pull with your pliers a little more to keep tension so it doesn't pop back in... Continue this until it releases (after 3 clips I believe). The first one will suck, but you'll get 2x as fast as you do each one. 10 mins for the first one, about 2 mins to do the last one...
Anyways, it's that easy.
