2002 grand prix with rust on rocker panels

my wife has a 2002 grand prix LS in which the rocker panels have started to rust. i have noticed that the LT version of this model has an additional piece of trim in that area so if there is any rust, it is not visible.

any way, she would like to have the rust removed and due to the fact that i am still umemployed i would like to do this myself.

how do i start and what products and tools will i need?

any information would be greatly appreciated.

LT/LS??? No such Grand Prix :th_wtf:

Grand Prix some in SE, GT, and GTP. I see this is your first post so I decided to fix that for you....lol

I would recommend following this link and use this stuff for the rust, it works great. :th_thumbsup-wink:

your are correct, she has an SE; i was mixed up with the chevy and pontiac models.
