• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

if you could build your dream 3800 motor what would you use

probably somewhere in the area of this, but not completely set in stone:

- 10:1 compression, forged pistons
- custom cam with the lift of an IS4, but the overlap of a NIC
- ported heads with 130# dual spring setup
- mega beefy comp pushrods
- ls7 lifters (stock replacement, screw noisy OE-R's)
- m112 blower swap
- ZZP billet throttle body

thats probably about it minus the ARP everything and all the gaskets...

i second bio... i personally think dohc on a 3800 would be a dumb idea. these motors were designed best with pushrod technology. why taint a design that's been thoroughly tested again and again to be efficient with one that may possibly be worse?

I'd start with a brand new l26 crate shortblock
ZZP aluminum heads
manley 130 springs
TEP cam
double roller
Gen V
ZZP headers
65 lb injectors for E85
ATI overdrive balancer with a 2.6 pulley
meziere flexplate

well call it dumb but 3.4 dohc was a nice engine. and i loved my northstars and even the 3.2 in the cts or even the 3.6 non direct injected engine. all the above will whoop on a 3.8 l67 stock for stock(3.4 might lose). i love the l67 to but wished the topend was better thats why i said dohc. low end torq can still be found on dohc engines.

and no im not bashing anybodys ideas or being sensitive about the subject just expressing ideas lol. but i guess i have big dreams lol. well since im dreaming how about a new ls series 3.8 lol a gen 4 small block v6 ftmfw. but back to reality

forged bottom end
3 angle valve job
pnp heads
whipple blower
arp everything
T&D Machine rr
custom cam
full sized ic
billet flexplate
nice stall converter
some small secret mods
clear hood tinted black(cuz im showing it all off)
and a sierra denali with a custom trailer to pull it all in:th_nanana:

i like the way dohc breathe thats all. they have a bark to em when revn

yeah DOHC has top end just because of the motor engineering. however, given the right cam you can have all the top end you want with a push rod motor.

Start with an Intense 9.5:1 short block
Intense stage 4 heads
Stage 4 turbo cam
ZZP Stattama turbo kit
Convert the LIM and UIM to a L26- for the Aluminum UIM and a HV3, and use the injector bungs for N2O foggers
80# injectors to support an E85 tune
All the other accoutrements
Blah blah
Blah
O..and a custom stainless valve cover with Bad a$$ etched into it.:th_thumbsup-wink:

And yes, I would consider this “building an engine” if I got it all to work.

Ummm,

ya.

Whoever said Whipple...suck it. I've wanted to do that since I saw Tom Wrights dyno years ago.

I'd run a fully blueprinted and balanced L26 with Diamond pistons w/ 8.0:1
W140AX with the AnimuL kit and a PRJ Custom IC/PRJ Rails 65# injectors
Intense Stage 4 Heads
YT 1.6 RR's
Intense PR's
A custom cam with LOTS of duration on the exhaust...this mills GOTTA breathe
Ported LS1 TB (I like the pedal feel, don't hate)
KEEP MY PACE****TTERS
Run the 100% Meth Kit too...and aim for a 3.4" pulley on the Whippy...on 92 octane.

And don't forget the racin earl :D

true but dohc is more sophisticated lol, im acting like a gm exec, dont pay me anymind. they cancelled the future direct injected dohc v8s(northstar on steroids) because the newer cam in block motors are light years beyond the old pushrod motors and are way more cost effective than the dohc motors. they even changed the name from pushrod to cam in block lol. i just like the dohc sound, but i like ohv to. i have no preference just make it fast and ill love it:th_thumbsup-wink::th_thumbsup-wink:.

im still pissed at the fact pontiac is no more, but since they did that will the value of our cars go up? it will always be the best bang for your buck car ever made imho

back on topic
if every member gave me a dollar i could get all of this done:th_laugh-lol3:

forged pistons are for people who don't have a good tune anyway. they can just take a hit a couple more times than stock pistons.

you'd have to have someone make you custom heads.... and those would be pricey and probably not worth your time.

lol. i was asking not telln (bluegtp91), im not to fond of building engines. i read it on clubgp. but i wish i could get a break with my car, had it for 2 years and only time it hit the streets was when i drove it home from the shop

and back to the shop.

10.1:1 pistons
nice big custom cam
aluminum heads
m112 or hybrid m112
e-85
meth
n20
Why do people think a 3 angle valve job is a mod?
