Help! What do You Guys Think Of This GTP?

So my buddy used to have a gtp but know hes all into hondas but i recently decided to take out a loan and buy a nice gtp [all my other cars were POS] and i think i found a great one but i just want some other input especially from people who know these cars.

Its a 2002 Pontiac GTP Coupe 3.8 S/C only 73,000 Miles Silver great tires and its super super clean! i looked at it a couple of times and i could find a scratch or a dent and its fully loaded with heater leather sunroof etc.. and its at one of the most well known GM dealerships in Southeastern WI and they went threw it bumper to bumper and the used car sheet says nothing is wrong with it at all. but the ORG sticker was at $12,500 but now with some "blow out sale" and its down to $9,500... But obviously im not going to pay that price. what do you guys think a fair price would be?

i see a bunch of people on here buyin them for like $5,000 but with over a 100k and private party. but should i be willing to pay a little more for a dealer certified stuff? like the old theory "you get what you pay for" beacuse i dont mind paying a littlem ore for quailty beacuase im not going to be able to mod it for a while.

even with 73k miles, $9500 is a little steep. i wouldn't pay more than $6000 for it, but its a dealership so the likelihood of that is very, very low.

Ya thats what i was thinking around $6000 maybe $6500 but also it has been on their lot for like 3 months and ive heard after a while dealerships have to start paying for cars to just sit on their lot so i'm hoping they willing to go down pretty far. Also, my parents have bought 2 trucks from them in the past but i dont think thats going to help too much with the price

It sounds like you need to go look some where else. They might have paid to much for the car themselves, and now they are going to try to break even on it. I doubt they will ever go below 9K on that car. The bad thing is, like Bio said. Its worth 6 maybe 7K

The main reason im looking at more expensive GTP's is after i buy it im not going to have much money to make repairs so im looking for a realiable daily driver then eventually mod it the right way. when my buddy had his he just threw some small pully on it and blew the motor. and i believe more in build it slowly and have it more reliable then half a** Stuff. and the Special Ed on is on my way up north so i might stop and look at it on the way up or back.

Also when looking at gtps what is common to be a problem that i should take a look at it so i dont buy junk? and what is some maintence i should do after i get one? besides the obv oil change check coolant trans fluid brakes etc...

sorry im new to these gtps if those were dumb questions.

make sure the fluids all look right, make sure it shifts good cold and warm, and make sure the lower intake gaskets arent leaking.

Ya that one is pretty cool and im going to look at the silver gtp and the dealership tonight they got the price down to 8,250 and its been their for 3 months so im hopin to get it at a decent price

i bought my 02 for 12k back in 05 and it had 20k miles on it fully loaded, that was 5 years ago, this car should be no more than 6k its a pontiac, holds no value, etc

True , Now that they're gone some dealers will act like they are collectors items...Because they're Supercharged...All Hype.

I bought an almost identical car about 6 months ago. 2002 Silver GTP, loaded, excellent condition with 57k. I paid $8000 for it and book was $9000 at the time. I looked at a lot of GP's in this area before I bought mine and this was a more than fair price compared to others I looked at before I got this one.

Average NADA retail is $8150

Average wholesale

04/01/10 SO CAL Lease $3,500 59,625 Avg SILVER 6G A No
04/22/10 LOUISVLL Regular $4,000 125,306 Avg WHITE 6G A Yes
04/27/10 HATFIELD Regular $4,900 57,015 Avg BLUE 6G A Yes

So i guess it depends what the extended warranty terms are $8000 seems fair for a clean car with a decent extended warranty
