Anyone else have issues with their plate scratching the paint on their trunk lid? This is on an 06. Kinda stinks now I have to touch up the paint where it worn down to the metal. This happened along the top edge of the plate where it meets a curve in the metal.


Any ideas / tips?
 


Perhaps i'm ignorant but if theres not enough clearance between the edge of the plate and the curve in the trunk id now, adding the extra thickness of a frame will make the problem worse. I just removed the thin plastic dealer frame which caused scuffs all along the bottom of the plate.


My plan right now is to add nylon washers behind the plate to lift it a tad.
 
Have a tube of touch up paint ordered from the dealer. Going to clean it up, paint it and use nylon washers to hold the top of the plate a hair off of the trunk lid.
 
find specers for the screws or put something soft like weather stripping on the back of the plate so it wont scratch
