i drive a 01 gt i got for my 16 bday from my dad been driving it for over a year now and about everyday i find new thing wrong with it

2 start this is my main this i dont under stand: my securtiy light has been on 4 a long time and its always blinking. one time my car went 2 lock down mod and its would start then sut off after 2 seconds of driving and had 2 leave it in a packing lot for 2 days till i got it 2 work. i dont know why its on and how 2 turn it of. my shop guy said i need 2 take it 2 the dealer ship and its gona cost 400+ bucks 2 fix

second thing is that just 2 days ago when drive all i hear coming from my dashbord is something that sounds like wire shorting out ( or something like a sparking sound thats always clicking)

and the last thing is i was gona sell this car after next winter because i was thinking of getting a honda or something else but im in love with my gp and i dont wona see it go. but the only thing is i need a new trany, intake gasket, head gasket and it burn oil like its a joke. ive been looking around 4 a 3800 with trany but i cant find anything. any links or hlp would be great or opinions on what i should do. i was looking 2 turbo my gp some time in the next 2-3 months

thanks for any help

If you don't like dealing with a little issue like an intake gasket or dealing with a security relearn...then turbocharging a 3800 will make you more angry.

first off, how much money do you have.

second, see kevin form cartuning, he's in your area. He can hook you up with a turbo kit and a transmission to go with it.

First things first, take care of the suspension, new tires, all electrical issues then be prepared for the car to break down often.

looking 2 spend up 2 2000-3000 this year

everything else about the car runes great and i know a turbo guy

and 4 the trans easy out/tap out...his dad tried 2 tap them out and he went all over the place and tap it out all around and im just better off getting a new 1

I noticed a similar problem in my gp a while back. I finally figured out that it happened when I turned on the heated seat. I tried to take the dash apart and find out where the short was, but I didn't have much luck. I ended up just disconnecting the heated seat switch because I kept accidentally turning it on when I reached into the compartment below the A/C controls.

There are enough wires running behind the dash that your problem isn't necessarily the heated seat but it's worth a try.

if i were u i would check for a short underneath the battery I had similar problems. mine was caused by the battery leaking acid on to the wiring harness causing numerous problems
