I think a lot of it depends on how you drive the car. Beat the crap out of it, and it's not going to last very long.

How often do you drive it because I'm thinking daily driver. What would be good for that because 15 psi sounds high on daily or is it just me?
 
Lets see here, you drive around normally, not in boost... So if the boost was set at 10,000psi would it matter? Since you're not driving like a douche the whole time in the first place, does it matter? Do you really think he's driving around with his boost gauge on 15psi the entire time? Ummmmmm, no... he's not. 15psi is a cake walk for these motors, i'd do it non-i/c'd, turbo's are a different walk of life. My m90 car runs 15+psi on a Gen V 2.8 setup, has nothing compared to the turbo car on 10psi. Turbo's FTMFW.

15-18psi is about the range most run for daily driving on pump gas. Your going to play around with it at least once everyday, at that level your looking for traction anyway, so there is no point in going 20+psi on streets. You also have to realize there is more chance of something going wrong, like losing fuel pressure or oil pressure if driven everyday, so you want to play it safe that way also, handicap yourself a bit by lowering the boost when daily driving.

I've been daily driving on a i/c E85 setup on 12psi for almost a year now and just recently the stock trans at 100k is starting to slip on me bad... I already have a built transmission waiting to go in.
 
15 psi is not a problem on a DD IMO. I only drive this car once or twice a week in the nice weather, but I do not baby it either.

15 psi will let you put a lot of cars down as well :)

I went by Bob and Joe the other night leaving the car show. They were stopped at a red light in the turning lane and I came blowing past exhaust open full out with that Supra and the WRX from that night. I could only imagine the sound, and Bob was all smiles when we meet up for a later dinner.
 
Looking at the Z3 or Z7 kit for my 2001 N/A GP. I know this totally depends on how often you get into the peddle, did your gas mileage change drastically once you installed the Turbo Kit either plus or minus? My car is also a daily driver and want to keep some sort of decent gas mileage, at least until I know I won't be getting decent gas mileage, if you know what I mean. With these kits did any you guys go with a fuel pump re-wire or was the stock pump able to keep up at 15psi?
 
My n/a mileage was around 22mpg. The turbo'd mileage is around 23 being hard on the car. On long trips on the freeway with your foot out of it I usually see around 28-29 mpg now.

I run a rewire and would say that 42lbs injectors and a stock pump can get you in the 375-400 range.
 


I don't think you really are going to find the need to flog the car much if turbocharged. Usually your foot is on the pedal for whatever reason (get up to speed, pass someone). With that much additional power on tap, it takes less time to do those things. Granted you use more fuel, but in the end I still think you will be better off than when you started.
 
so i just order that one and it bolts up to my n/a?

i just seem to get lost in which kits are for n/a cars and which ones are for supercharged cars
 
As someone who asks a lot of newbie questions myself I have to say, if you are not sure you are not ready to go turbo. That's not to be rude (we all have to start somewhere after all) but if you are serious about turboing check out the turbo section on here, read everything, and then start doing some outside reading about how turbos work, what else is needed for install, and most importantly tuning.
 


nope, you need a tune. i would never trust a tune sent out from anywhere to work on a car with a turbo setup.

well im a newb to grand prix's, not to turbo's, ive been working on and tuning dsm's for a good 8 years now, turbo's are a cake walk i just know almost nothing about the vendors and little ins and outs to specific kits... give me a little time, i will learn :th_king-evil:

You can run the start up file from a Turbo Vendor and have no problems. Just depends on how far you want to go. I am still on the file Turbo Tim from ZZP started me with in October 2009. Only need to get another tune now because I am out of injector and need to install the 65lbs. 115 traps on a box turbo tune isn't bad.

Anyone really interested in adding a Turbo should read through the CGP turbo forum. Even though I hate to send someone there, this place barely has a turbo forum.
