hello forum i just bought a 98 gp gtp. let me tell you about myself
im 17 years old ive been around fast cars my whole life haha. i bought my first car when i was 12 an d didnt stop from there. i was always a v8 guy until i bought my first v6. a 97 pontiac firebird. from that day i was hooked on these 3800 motors. i had a gt1 cam, headers and a few other things done to the car, i had also rebuilt the motor.

Now i decided to upgrade i found a silver gtp sitting for about 4 yrs now and i got it for a steal of 800 dollars haha! the car is silver and has 107k miles. VERY clean interior, exterior has some dents on the doors, could use a new bumper/ fender bc of the damage to it (paint wise)The car needs all new calipers/ rotors. (i just finished them), 4 new tires (i just got them from my friend at a tire shop =)), the res has rusted out so ill have my guy cut out the u-bend and res soon (thank god that stupid design) and last but not least im almost 100% sure i need to replace both valve cover gaskets.

I plan on starting off with a few mods
-u-bend/res del
-4in FWI
-colder plugs
-180 t stat
-3.4 pully (3.5 if someone convinces me)
-and a tune from my friend (worked for slp for 15 yrs)

i was doin more research, how hard is it to do headers in this car it looks like a pita bc is FWD... and if i drop out the motor to do headers ill end up doing a cam too

i can tell u it is a pita, the rear mani is the worst, i was planning on doing mine but hit a snag and ran out of time so i ended up dropping it off with a friend to finish it, he said he had to drop the engine out and it supposedly took him about ten hours on a lift, which i think is bull but anyway..
i would advise headers over a dp plog combo just in case you wanna take it past a 3.4 setup

deff not 10 hrs to take it out lol i did it in ten lifting it out of my firebird and i had a broken back. hardest part of droping it i see is the trans. idk ill hold off on the 3.4 for not get 3.5 and maybe when i have a need for speed do headers and drop down to a 3.3 or even more bc if i drop it a cam is damn well going in too
