Front Motor Mount Brackets..

i want to paint my front motor mount brackets but i have a quick question...do you need a torque wrench or would a socket work fine? want to make sure...

You can just remove them and do what you want, then put them back on. No need to do anything to the engine, it will sit there by itself. Just don't drive it without them on. Then engine will move a whole lot!

Thats what I did with my car. check out my car domain site for some ideas. I painted mine first before I bought new braces. They looked good painted. In fact there are some sweet engine bays here with stock braces and mounts painted. Farnsworth's engine bay is very clean and well painted.
 
im going with a red/blue theme like i plan on making my own intake pipeing and painting that dark blue and then paint the valve covers dark blue with red stripes and the motor mounts are all red...
 


what kind of paint did you all use for under your hood on the brackets? and did you put a clear coat on after?
 
Did mine not to long ago. Pretty easy to do. Just make sure to replace the ugly black bolts .

I used duplicolor sprayed through a gun and then cleared. has held up pretty good. I also painted the whole engine bay though. A tip is to go to a hobby shop or toy section (model cars,planes) at walmart and get a paint pen (testors). Cheap and works well on basic non custom colors to hide small chips. I had a few from dropping wrenches or tools on the engine bay during some mods. I bought a black paint pen and it works great to dab on the chipped spots, or where a bolt is removed and re-installed cracking or scraping the paint. Dries glossy to match the clear.

My earlier pics of the stock hood I just taped off the framework and sprayed gloss black truck and van paint from pep boys. It held up for 2 years before I sold the hood. For 5 bucks, some tape and paper and a sat afternoon, Its a nice touch for showing the car. I havent seen anyone else do it. I have done that on almost all of my cars I've had.
 
Sorry, powder coated LOL. Well that means you probably done get too many chips. Plus if I didnt drop or do things twice I'd have less issues with chips! Glad you posted up. Thats an incredible engine bay. Nice work!!!
