I'm tired of sub 100 trap speeds so I just ordered the xp cam. What other things should be on my list? so far i have...
Should have gone with a bigger cam #1 :th_jester:
-crow cam 105# springs
-cam install kit
-new valve locks and seals
-I guess I'll need new rocker bolts as well
Did you get reusable rocker bolts the last time you put your rockers in? If not...what I would do is get them now...did you get ARP Head Studs when you did your swap? I'd do that now...even though removing the heads is another step incase you plan on diving back into the motor at some point, they are beyond worth it...wish I would have bought them years ago
can i stick with a single rollermaster timing chain or do i have to go double? whats with the issues with that? oil pump failure? Do i need the machined oil pump cover?
I ran a stock chain with a new damnper for over 40K and I beat the living GOD out of my car...just get a new chain and new dampener. The issue with the Double Roller is that it has to have the gear machined to match the stock one when sitting next to each other...you can double gasket the front cover, or machine the oil pump cover as well...but I just machined the gear. Done. The XP isn't a rough enough cam to destroy the stock chain/dampner...especially if your not shifting over 6200. I ran mine to almost 6500 for a long time and never had any issues there.
I was thinking of getting OER lifters so i can rev out a little more but, i already have ls7 lifters and i heard they can rev over 6k too? any word on that?
LS7 lifters are the same as everything else since the early '90's...no different than the stock 3800 ones. Reason why I talk them up so much is because you can get them so cheap from LSx vendors and when you buy them you still have a few left over incase you ever have any issues. Revving isn't limited by your lifters, but your valvetrain...the stronger the springs, more head work you have and upgraded timing chain...higher you can run it...but keep it in mind, even with a IS4 cam, your powerband is starting to fall off around 6500 or a bit more...turbo though is a totally different game.
what pulley can i run? I was thinking 3.3 or 3.4...
Since you have a Jinnyfive...I'd start with your stocker...get it broken in. Then throw the 3.4" on there and go to town...not much lower though unless you get head work and or an IC/Meth. The point of your motor isn't boost...its the compression ratio...making all that power OUT of boost.
