trunk lid vibration

I know Dynamat is a good start, but I have vibration in my Bumper cover also? I have 2 10" Alpine type S and a 940 watt Kenwood amp. SO..... the trunk lid moves a bit and I have a stupid rattle in the back....Sounds good inside but I don't want it to sound like that when I have it up way loud....

I don't want to do either. Dynamat would damper a lot of the issue. If I pull the carpet off the back of the truck and install there and on the trunk lid. Then put the carpet back over. maybe pull the bumper cover off and make some rubber washers and re install the bumper with them....
 
you will need a few layers of dynamat for it to even make a difference. and you will need to COVER EVERYTHING. i had my truck sound proofed with 1 layer and it hardly made it sound better. i had a big ass sytem in the back for a while and just said screw it, and delt with the vibrations, as long as you cant hear it in the car oh well

Thats not a vent, those are your third brake lights.

Open the trunk, peel back the carpet as if you were going to change the right tail light. Then peel back the carpet along side the right side of the trunk.

Shouldn't have to peel much back and you should see the vent down in the bottom.

just wondering if this worked?? lol i have 2 kenwood 12s with a pioneer amp and it rattles the mess outta my trunk but sounds great inside..glad i didnt turn my amp up yet :-)
 


Yea it didnt work for me, when i rewire everything this next week im going to face them forward and see what i can do as far as sealing it up...
 
I opened the trunk and the two little black bumper things that you can screw and unscrew i unscrewed them all the way so the trunk needs to be slammed harder so it shuts tighter. That eliminated a lot of vibration in my trunk.

I am thinking about doing that too. I found the vent in the trunk, but I don't want to prop it open for the simple fact that stops moisture from getting in the trunk of the car. And there is no way that is the cause of my rear bumper rattle. I may just live with it and adjust the rear trunk lid a bit.
 
Alright **** this:

Is your license plate rattling?

What specifically is rattling?

Without knowing, we can't make any suggestions.

Put some weather stripping behind the bottom of the plate, ensure your entire bumper is secured properly, adjust your trunk latch, prop open the vent which doesnt prevent moisture from getting in since it doesnt create an air tight seal.

I've done all those mentioned above and now my REAR WINDSHEILD is rattling.

I'm fairly certain you can't fix that.

License Plate no...Not sure yet on the bumper, I have to look at it closer after I get it on my lift in the garage. I will probably check it when I change the oil.

OK, checked last night. License plate IS rattling and the trunk lid is vibrating right where it meets the rear window. So I will go from there. Thanks guys
 
build a band-pass box. i have 2 rockford fosgate P2 12". direct all the air into the cabin through the pull down back seat. its the best way to get rid of trunk rattle. my system is one of the loudest ive ever heard,and it has no trunk rattle, it rattles the whole car, but u cant hear it.
