hey guys, my dads got a 99 regal gs and the thing is monster loud at acceleration... the thing literally screams and it hurt my ears a bit when i was beside him at WOT.
any type of accelerating and the loud noise is there, and its not the coupler or the pulley

were thinking that the supercharger is toast, after changing the supercharger oil which really looked and smelled like regular motor oil (we bought the car at 140k miles)

thanks

Does it sound like the supercharger normally should but just louder?

These cars with just an intake and a ported outlet make them pretty loud.

no, even with stock intake and pulley the thing was a screamer
after we changed the snout/coupler/pulley the sound was still there

if anything it sounds really similar to a bad coupler -.- but we just replaced the coupler with a new green one...

maybe we put it on wrong :th_laugh-lol3:

probably the bearings for the rotors. Also if they're bad enough it could be the rotors rubbing against the case.

Either way it sounds like its coming from inside the supercharger case.

we were talking earlier and listened to the car and it was definitely not the coupler sound. the thing just screams

he was saying bearings too

if its the bearings or blades, will it be hard to change or fix?

If your changing out those parts might as well grab a GenV just for the hell of it.
