1500RPM at 55MPH in '08 GXP? (MD)

I recently purchased an '08 GXP as my daily driver. While cruising to work at about 50-55mph I've noticed the RPMs drop and hold steady at 1500. Can this be right? Is the overdrive that tall?

Yup. My GTP does the same thing. At 55 its around the same thing. No worries its just over drive kicking in.

my 98 gtp does that, the torque converter is locking up and preventing slippage, next time you are cruising along at 1500 rpm touch your brake and this releases the lock, its for better mileage and is a good thing.

the TC unlocks when you let all the way off the gas. no need to hit the brakes.

yep, your right, works either way. sure helps the mileage on trips running a low rpm.
