i have a 98 GP GT couple with 111k mile on it. since the transmission shifts harsh when the coolant head to 210, i am going to install a transmission cooler tomorrow. It is a B&M 70268 supercooler. now i have some questions.
1. what is the fitting size on 98 model? 1/4, 3/8 or 5/8?
2. which one is the ATF return line? how to determine? any pics?
3. is the bypass necessary? i live in vancouver, BC, Canada.

Any tips will be appreciated, too.

Thx a lot, guys.

Any i will upload pics after i finish. lol

You will find most guys say to run a 180 degree thermostat and you don't need a cooler. Just another thing to leak. Many guys who drag race these cars say the temp never goes over 180 degrees on their hard runs. I think I will be installing one this summer but only because I plan on going to Track day at Limerock and am a little concerned that that kind of constant strain will increase the temps.

For street duty just lower your thermostat temp to 180. It will save you money, and busted nuckles

If your engine coolant is 210, your tranny temp is higher if the car is warmed up.

If you beat on it on the street as well, it might be a good idea.

i have the "desert fox" kit, it uses a b&m cooler, works amazing. It sucks in winter because it will take forever for trans to warm up to get t/c lockup.

Thx. I used to have 180 therm, but it didn't work well in winter, so i switched it back to 192F. I ordered one cooler from local part store today. it was 76 bucks plus tax. i found from summitracing.com it is only 50 bucks shipped. What the hell of the price here in Canada.

Thats awesome, but Vancouver is kinda of cold in winter.
Could u please tell me which line is the return line and which one is the feed line? Thx. BTW: what did u use to cut the hose? and what the meaning of T/C lock up? Thx alot.

Make sure to flair the ends of the cut line slightly though! The pressure can get up to 50 or so PSI according to a local Chevy dealer.
