Help on choosing new amplifier

GAFF

PittState Automotive Tech
I have a 15 inch Kicker L7 2Ohm.. Im looking for a good amp that RMS's around 1000 at 1 Ohm or even 1000 watts at 4ohm. I dont wanna spend ridiculous amounts of money on this but wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Its running off a 800.1 Pheonix Gold Ryval and beats hard but i know it can go a lot louder.

Any help on amps or brands that are around that 1000 RMS range and stable at 1ohm would be great

sorry does your amp put out 800 watts right now and you want another 200 watts? if so, you're a ****ing TOOL

thats only .75 more dB than what you have.

COMPLETE waste of money.

unless you're only at 400 watts in which case just over 3 dB is worth it.

LOOK AT USED AMPS.

greatest deals are in used equipment since all car audio **** is overpriced as ****.

sundown 3500!!!!!!!!! best amp ive ever bought in my life!!!!! its expensive but it would pound the mirrors and your windsheild out and you could always add another 15:th_thumbsup-wink:

another good amp beleve it or not a lanzar heritage htg2600d have it in my winter car on 3 kicker l7 12z loud:th_winking:

So you ran two alts or what?

Otherwise, you're just wasting your money lol

a 280amp 4 optima red tops pluss stock battery in tha bonneville sundown 3500 2 american bass hd 15z 151.4db

and stock alt in 98 gtp 2 extra red tops

Batteries were pointless unless you like to blast beats when the car is off.

and you were only running 15's? WTF? SOOOOOOOOO POINTLESS

if you want loud sound, get the largest most efficient subs with a decent Xmax rating.

That way... you'll make more noise per watt.

id get a lanzar off ebay nice amp well desined and cheap worth the money its desined just as well as hi fonics but way better then hi fonics (my opionion) ive had nuthin but bad luck with hi fonics amps gota stack of umm blown:(

y wen i got american bass 10min from my house and get anything at dead cost and warrentied tha same day no need to wait for other companys that take weeks or months!

BATTERIES ARE NOT POINTLESS EVERYTIME IT HITS YOU RISK DAMAGING THE POWER SUPPLY OF THE AMP WITH NO BATTERIES, THE MORE BATTERIES THE MORE SUFFICIANT THE AMPS GONNA BE THATS JUST LIKE SAYIN YOU DONT NEED A ALTERNATOR TO DRIVE YOUR CAR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME ARE YOU SERIOUS ???

whats the sensitivity on them and the xmax? GET BACK AT ME !

and dude... you shouldnt NEED 3500 watts to hit 150 if you know what you're doing.

xmaxx 30mm, 300oz magnent 3000watts each 3inch vc 5 spiders so stiff u could actually stand on them with only movin them a hair

weight of the magnet means one thing: inefficient motor design. :)

what size spiders? 8 inch? If so, kinda last decade **** there buddy.

30 MM is pretty damn good, but nothing to write home about. Can be had for only a couple hundred bucks.

If you could claim 30 MM with 1% variation in BL then we'd be talking some big numbers.

3 inch voice coil means if its copper, you're ****ed from square one, and even if its aluminum, it'd better have shorting rings else you'll have ZERO output above 60 Hz.

have you ever seen a bonneville back seat its solid behind it and all the computers for the car are behind it i can see if it was a gp then ud kno what you are talkin bout but tottally different car buddy and set up:th_laugh-lol2:

So you ignore that i'm pointing out that all you're bragging about is pointless in a PROPER setup and in terms of modern (actually aging) audio technology by saying "you've never setup **** in a bonne"

Nice copout bud.

Still havnt told me what the sensitivity is.

Oh well... Bigger concerns than some pointless subwoofer.

name 1 speakers that use 2 spiders??? mine have 5 pretty good design for maxx spl and contionus play at high volume if ya ask me!

SoundSplinter RL-P series?

My recone for my RL-P 18 which came from Fi, I think quite a few Fi's use two spiders.

Having 5 spiders is kinda meaningless.

if you had two spiders with some distance beteween them they'd actually be useful like in the RE XXX's. That'd help keep the cone linear under more extreme excursion.

Oh I think the Mach 5 SPL 12 uses 5 spiders as well.

Edit:

"6 layer spiders"

So you could call that six spiders... go canada eh?

Edit 2: when operating at that high excursion the motor is so unlinear as well as the suspension that it doesnt matter what you do to correct it, old technology just doesnt cut it. thats the truth.

Ever hear about that insane adire audio sub called the parentheon or something or other? 100+ mm of Xmax.

coiled'd suspension, messed up neo motor.

Was quite the piece... stupidly expensive though.

Its MUCH more logical to simply have multiples after you hit 30-40 MM of Xmax though. Even by then, you've given up so much sensitivity its almost not worth powering. Especially in a car.

your rite i have no idea what the sensitivity is never cared fo real tho wtf cares im not braggin bout nuthin whats the tittle say??
(Re: Help on choosing new amplifier)
it loud ass hell dont care aout competing anymore thats old i like my loud continuios bass with no problems:th_thumbsup-wink:

damn good lookin on the mach audio have you used or heard them??? thinkin of get 2 to try them bad boys outthey look mean prolly haft to get another 3500 for them

my only point is.... make better use of the power you get from the stock alt so you don't have to spend money on an expensive HO alt and have to keep getting them rebuilt.

Edit: i have a mach 5 IXL 18.2.2

its great for what they claim, just not up to taking a full 1000 watts, it runs outta xmax at that point since the suspension is a little weak compared to my FI/SS hybrid. 30 MM Xmax versus 22 might have a little something to do with that as well...

Never tried the SPL one there, heard great things from it though. close to 150 dB from one, slightly more output than competitors and at that price, its pretty much the best bang for buck.
